Marvel’s ‘The Eternals’ Is In Talks With Kumail Nanjiani

Published

on

Comedian Kumail Nanjiani has been on a role since working on Silicon Valley. He’s recently taken over the box office with roles in The Big Sick and The Lego Ninjago Movie. Now, he’s looking to step foot in the MCU with The Eternals.

The Most Influential Hero

Nanjiani is in talks with Marvel Studios to star in the forthcoming movie. He’ll be joining Angelina Jolie, who is slated to play Sersi. For Nanjiani, this will be his biggest role to date. The MCU has earned a staggering $18 billion between 21 films.

With phase four coming soon, things will be shifting in a cosmic plateau.

A Hard Choice

With a long list of Eternal members, it can be difficult to see who Nanjiani might portray. One character that would fit him like a glove is Starfox. Debuting in 1973, the character can control people’s emotions through psychic powers. The character enjoys cutting loose and cracking jokes, which would work great with Nanjiani. As Thanos’ younger brother, Starfox will be another connecting link to The Mad Titan’s actions.

Another role that Nanjiani can take is Makkari. Debuting in 1976, the character has immortality and super speed on its side. Makkari is also highly skilled at creating some of the fastest cars in the universe. For years, he’s had an on and off relationship with Sersi.

10,000 Years In The Making

When it comes to The Eternals, Marvel president Kevin Feige wants this to span a long time. “Jack Kirby did an immense, amazing epic with Eternals that spans tens of thousands of years, and that’s also something we haven’t really done, which is why that among many other things post-Endgame, we find appealing,” he told Collider. Even with a 10,000+ year time span, Feige can still have this connection with current situations on Earth.

Filming for The Eternals will begin this summer in Atlanta, Georgia. No official release date has been given just yet.

When Real-Life Plays A Part In TV Plotlines

Not every show has its plot lined out from the moment the pilot airs, and still, sometimes real-life can get in the way. Even the best laid plans can go awry, and sometimes plotlines are created entirely to accommodate an actor’s unexpected personal issue. From pregnancies to off-set injuries (and of course plenty of on-set injuries), writers are reworking scripts so that you’d never know something else was happening behind the scenes. Think you know why an actor exited a show? We’ll bet you didn’t even realize that some major show plots happened out of serendipity. Read on to find out how in some cases, the truth really is stranger than fiction.
