Will Marvel’s ‘The Eternals’ Cast Angelina Jolie As Lead?

With Avengers: Endgame coming up, Marvel Studios is already focusing on Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One movie that’s standing out for Marvel fans is The Eternals. One Oscar-winning actress is looking to take part in this forthcoming film.

Enter The Eternal Flame

Angelina Jolie is in talks to star in The Eternals. The Los Angeles native has earned numerous accolades for her work in GiaGirl, Interrupted, and Changeling. Last year, Jolie earned her second Golden Globe nomination as a director for First They Killed My Father.

On October 18, Jolie will star in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. This will be her first live-action role since 2015’s By the Sea. Jolie is also working on The One and Only IvanCome Away, and Those Who Wish Me Dead.

America’s Most Wanted

The Eternals wouldn’t be the first time Jolie stepped foot in a comic book adaptation. In 2008, she starred in Wanted, which is based on the comic released on Top Cow Productions. In the film, she portrays the assassin, Fox. Following her stint as Lara Croft in Tomb Raider, Jolie wanted to jump back into the action world.

“I was itching to do something that was physical because I had done some emotional films and I had been at home with the kids. I didn’t know that there was anything original out there [until] I came across this script,” she told MTV in 2008. Wanted also stars Chris Pratt, who went on play Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Filming Begins Soon

If Jolie seals the deal, she could wind up portraying Sersi. The character is slated to be one of two central characters in the film. Matthew and Ryan Firpo will be writing the film’s script.

Chloé Zhao has been chosen to direct the movie. In 2015, the director turned heads with her critically acclaimed film Songs My Brothers Taught Me. Filming is set to begin this summer in Atlanta.
