Since the announcement of the Child’s Play reboot, fans have been split. A majority of them weren’t happy that franchise creator Don Mancini wasn’t involved. Without Chucky’s longtime voice actor Brad Dourif, many are concerned about its success. Fortunately, they managed to grab an iconic voice actor for the part.

Time To Play The Game

Mark Hamill will lend his voice to Chucky in the forthcoming Child’s Play reboot. “I can’t wait to bring such an iconic character to life, and present him in a way you’ve never seen him before,” he said on Twitter. Fans were shocked at the announced, and many of them backed the beloved actor.

“This has always been one of my all time fave horror movie and you’ll be in it, I mean how terrific an incredibly cool is that,” Twitter user Claudia__83 said.

Joke’s On You

As a voice actor, Hamill is mostly known for his performance as The Joker. He’s earned numerous accolades for this role, including two Annie Awards. In an interview with Sway’s Universe, Hamill discussed how each Joker performance is completely different.

“I would say, with The Joker, he’s different every time you play him. You try and play him like the first time you’ve ever done it,” he told the publication.

Year Of The Robot

This isn’t the first time Hamill has been connected to Child’s Play. In 2005, he voiced Chucky in an episode of Robot Chicken. “It was an homage to the great Brad Dourif version I love. But the @ChildsPlayMovie is a reboot with a completely different origin for the new Chucky,” Hamill tweeted. For the reboot, Chucky will be a robotic doll this time around.

Hamill joins Gabriel Bateman, Aubrey Plaza, Brian Tyree Henry, and Tim Matheson in the film. The Child’s Play reboot will hit theaters on June 21.
