Margot Robbie Reveals New Harley Quinn Look

Did you miss Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad? Harley Quinn appeared as the Joker’s maniacal ex-girlfriend turned reluctant mercenary for the U.S. Government. While the movie gives a brief glimpse into one of DC’s female super-villains, Robbie will be reprising her role in 2020.

A First Look At Her New Look

Robbie has given fans a glimpse into her upcoming look, with a sneak peek of Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of Harley Quinn). She previewed the look in an Instagram post with the caption, “Miss me? HQ.” She received around 1.6 million likes in just three hours. It’s safe to say that fans are missing Harley Quinn.

Her new look is an update from what fans may remember from Suicide Squad. They can say goodbye to her bat-toting look combined with short shorts.

Inspired By The Comics

The photo of the updated Harley Quinn look features Margot Robbie with bright red lips, heart drawn on her cheek, with platinum blonde hair. She’s also donned an 80’s style outfit. Fans on Reddit noticed a similarity between Robbie’s new look and how Harley was drawn in the Aquaman and Suicide Squad crossover story “Sink Atlantis.”

DC Comics published “Sink Atlantis” in 2018. The popularity of Harley Quinn spawned several spinoff ideas, including the film to be released in 2020.

The Upcoming Film

Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of Harley Quinn) will open in theaters on February 7, 2020. Cathy Han is directing the Birds of Prey movie from a script written by Christina Hodson.

After splitting up with The Joker, Harley Quinn teams up with female superheroes to save a young girl played by Cassandra Cain from an evil crime lord. The film’s more robust cast of female superheroes includes Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, and Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya. Ewan McGregor will be playing the Black Mask.
