Former Fox News CEO Roger Ailes resigned from his position following numerous allegations in 2016. The story behind his downfall is being brought to the big screen by production company Annapurna Pictures. One major piece of the Ailes story has just been cast.

We Report, You Decide

Malcolm McDowell has been picked to portray media mogul Rupert Murdoch in the film Fair And Balanced. The English actor is best known for his Golden Globe-nominated performance as Alex DeLarge in A Clockwork Orange. He’s also appeared in Star Trek Generations, Tank Girl, and The Artist.

Rupert Murdoch wouldn’t be the first real life person that he played on screen. The 2013 film Richard the Lionheart found him portraying King Henry II.

Most Watched. Most Trusted.

McDowell joins a cast of prominent actors. Nicole Kidman will portray Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson. Charlize Theron is slated to portray Megyn Kelly. Theron knew that she had to take this role in hopes of shining a light on things. “Ultimately, it was an important story to tell, and I’m honored to be a part of it. It’s written really well, so we’re just going to try to stay on that path of the greater truth and try to stick with that,” she told Access Hollywood. Theron will also help produce the film along with her production company Denver and Delilah Productions.

John Lithgow will portray Ailes. Margot Robbie and Kate McKinnon will also star in the film in undisclosed roles.

Time For The Show

Shooting for the film will begin in the near future. There’s no release date for the film.

Fair And Balanced was written by Charles Randolph, who gained a Golden Globe nomination for The Big Short. Jay Roach, who worked on Mark Felt: The Man Who Brought Down the White House, will direct this movie.
