A Woman’s Lost Purse Becomes Key to Recover a Man’s Lost Life

Published

on

Kaitlyn Smith from Baltimore got her new leather bag stolen along with her wallet, credit cards, cash, and other belongings. While she no longer hoped to ever find her bag again, she was surprised to spot a man carrying her lost purse several days later while she and her friend were walking down the street.

When she approached the man to buy back her lost purse, the man declined and told her that she needed to bring it back to someone named “Kaitlyn”. When she revealed who she was, the man shared that he found it in an alley near Upton Market and he decided to give it back because he knew how what it felt like to have your belongings stolen.

Kaitlyn gave the man named Aeric a sleeping bag, flashlight, clothes, and a ride home. During the ride, she learned that Aeric was a heroin addict who used to own a landscaping business.

Aeric told Kaitlyn that he wanted to get clean by going to a rehab facility in Florida, but he didn’t have the means to go there.

As a thank you for returning her purse, Kaitlyn promised Aeric when they parted that she would be willing to pay for his plane ticket if ever his plan to go to the facility would pan out.

After several days, Kaitlyn received a call from Aeric informing her that there was an opening at the rehab facility in Florida, so she fulfilled her promise to shoulder his plane fare.

Kaitlyn and Aeric became friends during the entire process, and they call each other every day with Aeric updating her of his progress.

Considering that Aeric would be needing more financial help to complete his rehabilitation process and start his new life, Kaitlyn started to raise funds through GoFundMe.

“Along with your prayers, please consider making a donation so that this man can change his course,” wrote Kaitlyn on her GoFundMe page.

To date, Kaitlyn only needs less than $3,000 to reach her original goal of $15,000.
