Lizzo In The “Lizzie McGuire” Revival? Hilary Duff Wants It To Happen!

Lizzie McGuire

Lizzie McGuire fans were shocked at the news of Disney+ reviving the show. No one was more surprised than rising music star Lizzo. The Texan wants to be a part of this series. Fortunately, the show’s star is fine with bringing some “Juice” on the set.

Lizzo McGuire

Like everyone else, Lizzo caught news of the Lizzie McGuire revival on Twitter. “Let me get a cameo,” she tweeted to her 817,000 followers. Some fans wanted her to do more than just act. “Yeah, let her get a cameo. And do the theme song,” Twitter user kimikoko73 said. Others wanted her to stick around on the show longer. “Cameo? I rather you a series regular or reoccurring guest. Cause, I just need more Lizzo in my life,” Twitter user fithola said.

Lizzie McGuire star Hilary Duff noticed Lizzo’s request and wanted her on board. “Ummmmm duh! Hired! Animated Lizzie might explode! Saw you in Brooklyn. DEAD,” Duff tweeted. Lizzo retweeted Duff’s comment and stated, “‘It’s official #LizzoMcGuire.”

So Long, Lover Boy

This isn’t the first time Lizzo tried getting more acting roles. Last year, Lizzo sang The Little Mermaid‘s “Poor Unfortunate Souls” while dressed as Ursula. With a live-action adaptation in the works, Lizzo wanted to impress Disney with her acting chops. She posted videos of herself as Ursula playing the flute and having a conversation with Prince Eric.

One fan began a petition to have Lizzo portray the character. “In the most self-aware statement that anyone has ever made, Lizzo has gone on record to say that Ursula would be her dream role. Lizzo is a big grrrrl with the rising star power and the sheer vocal ability that makes her the perfect Ursula casting decision. Truth Hurts, and Disney seriously needs to rethink this casting,” the petition stated. While Melissa McCarthy is eyed for the role, the petition has over 15,000 signatures.

Some Roles Under Their Belt

In May, Lizzo made her film debut in UglyDolls, which also features music stars, Pitbull and Kelly Clarkson. The animated film follows plush toys trying to find acceptance in the real world. This wasn’t the star’s first run-in with animation. In 2016, she guest-starred on Brad Neely’s Harg Nallin’ Sclopio Peepio. Lizzo also lent her voice to the short film Yeti! Yeti!

In September, Lizzo will appear in the comedy-drama Hustlers. The movie also stars Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu, and Cardi B. Working with Lopez was a highlight of Lizzo’s budding acting career. “She’s such a professional. She’s such a vet in the game. This was my first time on camera for a feature film. So I was looking at her like, ‘Wow, you’re the leader right now.’ And she definitely did her job. She controlled the room and led the sisterhood,” Lizzo told Cosmopolitan.

Lizzo Is Taking Over The World

With Lizzo’s rise in the music industry, she’ll soon be too busy to act. The star’s latest studio album Cuz I Love You debuted at number six on the Billboard 200 chart. The 11-song release includes her first top 10 hit: “Truth Hurts”. Lizzo’s headlining tours in support of the record sold out hours after going on sale. For her, performing in front of thousands of fans is her own special escape. “I need this music to be my therapy because I have been solo and I refuse to live life like that anymore,” Lizzo told Entertainment Weekly.

The Lizzie McGuire revival will find the titular character as a 30-year-old in New York City. Original series creator Terri Minsky will be the showrunner for this show. So far, Duff is the only cast member from the original show to return. It’s safe to say Duff will have Lizzo on speed dial for that potential cameo.
