When Kim Raver returned to Grey’s Anatomy last season, fans were completely surprised. Fortunately, Dr. Teddy Altman is going to be sticking around for a bit longer.

A Delightful Return

Raver revealed that she’ll be joining season 15 of Grey’s Anatomy as a regular cast member. Her season 14 appearance was part of a five-episode arc. “I have a special place in my heart for Teddy and feel very lucky to have the opportunity to continue her story,” Raver said in a press statement.

While she makes her return, season 14 saw the departures of Sarah Drew and Jessica Capshaw. Drew spent 202 episodes as Dr. April Kepner while Capshaw played Dr. Arizona Robbins for 214 episodes.

The Road Back

Raver joined the cast of Grey’s Anatomy back in season six. She exited the show at the end of season eight to focus on other projects. She landed recurring roles on the shows RevolutionAPB, and Ray Donovan. Raver also reprised her role of Audrey Raines for 24: Live Another Day.

At the beginning of 2018, she joined the ABC drama, Designated Survivor. She is also slated to voice Captain Marvel in the upcoming animated film Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors.

Making History

Season 14 of Grey’s Anatomy brought in solid numbers for ABC. The show peaked at number 20 in the overall TV rankings. When it comes to the 18-49 year old demographic, it peaked at number 11. Grey’s Anatomy also introduced some newer characters in a six-episode web series.

Grey’s Anatomy‘s upcoming 15th season will make it the longest-running primetime drama in ABC history. It will also tie popular medical drama ER as the longest-running primetime medical drama of all time. Since its inception, the show has earned five Emmys and two Golden Globe Awards.
