When it comes to young actors in Hollywood, the business side of things may cause them to quit. Fortunately, many of them do manage to press on and find success. One young actress is looking to be the next household name.

Born To Run

Kiera Allen got her start in acting in the 2014 short Ethan & Skye before doing several theater performances. Now, she’s set to star alongside Emmy winning actress Sarah Paulson in Run. In this film, Allen plays Paulson’s daughter, who uses a wheelchair to get around.

Run is directed by Aneesh Chaganty, who turned heads with his 2018 feature film debut Searching. That movie won the Alfred P. Sloan Feature Film Prize and Best of Next! at Sundance. As the first Hollywood thriller to feature an Asian lead, Searching gained $71 million against a $1 million budget.

Working With An Icon

Speaking to Collider, Allen learned she was working with Paulson while watching a certain FX program. “And then out of nowhere, I was, believe it or not, in the middle of the latest season of American Horror Story. I watched the new episode that came out on Wednesday and on Thursday, my manager texted me, ‘By the way, the woman playing the mom is Sarah Paulson and you’re reading with her on Sunday.’ I was like, ‘Okay,'” she said.

She also managed to learn that Paulson is just like everyone else. “Sarah sent me these really lovely emails with things that inspire her and will talk about things that we both struggle with as actors, which is the most encouraging thing for me was, ‘Wow, Sarah Paulson, this amazing actor, struggles with some of the same things I struggle with as an actor,” she said.

Join The Club

While many actors spend years getting that one big role, certain ones landed it in their first try. Jason Statham (Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels), Frances McDormand (Blood Simple), and Tommy Lee Jones (Love Story) are a few examples.

If the stars align, Allen might join that list with her breakout performance in Run.
