Kate Hudson’s Raising Her Daughter Rani In A ‘Genderless’ Manner

Published

on

Back in October, actress Kate Hudson gave birth to her very first daughter Rani Rose. After having two healthy boys, she can now focus on the new lady of the house. For Hudson, however, she’s planning on raising Rani different from everyone else.

A Unique Approach

In an interview with AOL, Hudson talked about letting Rani decide who she wants to be. “I think you just raise your kids individually regardless – like a genderless [approach]. We still don’t know what she’s going to identify as. I will say that, right now, she is incredibly feminine in her energy, her sounds, and her way,” she said.

While Rani’s only a few months old, Hudson can’t get enough of shopping for her baby. “It’s really fun to actually want to buy kids’ clothes. With the boys, it was just like onesies … actually, I did pretty good with the boys. [Laughs] But with her it’s a whole other ball game. There’s some stuff that I’m like, “I can’t do that to her, because it’s so over-the-top,” she said.

A Growing Trend

Hudson isn’t the only celebrity to have a genderless approach with raising their kids. In a 2015 interview with Time, Adele talked about raising her first child Angelo. “I can’t wait to know who his best friends are going to be, who his girlfriend or his boyfriend is going to be or what movies he likes… Whatever my kid wants to do or be I will always support him no matter what,” she said.

For Angelina Jolie, it’s important to allow children to discover themselves. “You don’t know who your children are until they show you who they are. They are just becoming whoever they want to be,” she said on BBC Radio 4’s Women’s Hour.

More To Come?

This won’t be the final child for Hudson. In an interview with Today, she admitted to possibly having more in the future. “I always thought I’d have four to six kids. Then I met Danny and I was like, ‘All right, I have to pop them out for him.’…If it works out that way. He needs a boy, right? His own boy,” she said.

We’re certain the acclaimed actress will give them the same freedom she’s given Rani.
