If you’re an avid follower of the latest happenings in the celebrity world, then you know that Kanye West is not new to controversy. If anything, the mega superstar apparently thrives and makes a huge chunk of his money by being controversial. The latest drama that Mr. West is entangled in revolves around the original lyrics of one of his latest tracks “Famous” which were reportedly leaked online a few days ago.
According to word on the street, the rapper name-drops his fellow pop star – Taylor Swift – in a not-so-flattering manner in the original lyrics which were then tweaked and edited a bit prior to the song’s release. In the same instance, he mentions his ex-girlfriend Amber Rose in a way that implies that she still owes him a ‘roll in the hay’ for making her famous.
Now we already know that Kanye’s February single reignited a deep-rooted feud with Taylor Swift; one that goes way back to 2009. Back then, the Watch the Throne rapper made headlines when he unexpectedly cut her off mid-sentence during her Video of the Year Award ( MTV ) acceptance speech blurting out that Beyonce – her fellow contestant – deserved that award. Later on this year, after ‘Famous’ went live, Taylor Swift’s rep was quick to slam Kanye’s lyrics as being ‘misogynistic’ but the 39-year-old Chicago rapper insisted that Taylor had seen it coming all along.

As you can recall, the release of this single sparked such a huge online storm that Kim Kardashian had to come to her husband’s defence. In fact, she went lengths to prove that Taylor Swift was aware of the lyrics beforehand, even several months prior to the track’s release, by posting a short video on Snapchat of West and Taylor discussing the song over the phone. In the video, Swift allegedly seemed to approve of the idea although she later denied this vehemently.
In response to Kardashian’s allegations, Taylor Swift wrote on her Instagram on July 18 this year, “Where is the said video of Kanye West telling me that he was gonna call me “that bitch” in front of the entire world? It doesn’t exist simply because it never happened in the first place! ” She continued, “this is the highest level of character assassination, and falsely painting me as a liar only makes it worse.”
In spite of the backlash that characterised the aftermath of the release of the ‘Famous’ video, Kanye West has remained quite focused on his music. In fact, this past August, he toured his ‘Famous’ art gallery exhibit in L.A accompanied by his wife to promote the video of the song which features naked figures of well-known A-listers such as Donald Trump, Swift, Amber Rose, Chris Brown, and George W. Bush.
