Sophie Turner has gotten a lot of attention on social media now and after the rise of Game of Thrones and her latest movie, Dark Phoenix. Fans enjoy her down to earth style and quirky personality, and recently she decided to share a little about her personal life on Twitter. In a video where she explained some of her past tweets, she revealed her celebrity crush: Matthew Perry. Apparently, Turner was a huge Friends fan growing up. In the video, she admits when given the chance to meet Perry, she tried (and failed) to flirt with him outside a supermarket. Here’s what happened between the actress and her celebrity crush:

Turner Gushes Over Perry At A Supermarket

In Turner’s video, she answered to some of her more embarrassing Tweets from recent years, including one about actor Matthew Perry. In January 2016 she posted, “Holy balls. Chanandler Bong [sic] himself is rehearsing his play right next to my home.” After reading the tweet in her video, Turner explains that he wasn’t just rehearsing nearby. She actually got to see Matthew Perry up close and would have even been able to talk with him had she not gotten so flustered. Turner explained: “I would walk around the corner every day to go to my local Budgens, which is a great little supermarket, and I would walk around the corner every day and I would see Matthew Perry smoking a cigarette… I bought a lighter from Budgens so that I could walk up to him and offer to light his cigarette.”

Sophie’s Flirting Attempt Went So Wrong

Sophie Turner went so far as to concoct a little plan to casually talk to Matthew Perry. Unfortunately, Turner said that on the day she finally got the courage to buy a lighter and offer Perry a light, he had already started smoking his cigarette. Still, Turner wasn’t giving up. It was after this failed flirting attempt that she posted her Tweet. Turner also admitted that she hoped that he would see the tweet and ask her out, but sadly he did not. Perhaps Perry didn’t do as much social media back in 2016. She also didn’t tag him in the original post, which means it was unlikely he would have noticed it without skimming through the Twitter feed. Regardless, it seems Turner was disappointed she didn’t get to spend more time with her idol. It is unclear if Perry ever found out Turner’s secret. If he didn’t see the original tweet, hopefully he saw the video on Twitter and realized that he disappointed his fan. If it weren’t for Turner’s most recent relationship, she may still be pursuing him today.

Turner Finds Love Just A Few Years Later

Though Sophie Turner never got to go on a date with Matthew Perry, she luckily found the true love of her life less than a year later. Somewhere in 2016, Turner was introduced to Joe Jonas, and the pair hit it off almost immediately. During the holiday season of 2016, and early into 2017 they became more public about their relationship. They dated for around two years before announcing a surprise Vegas wedding the night Joe performed at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards. The ceremony and reception were held in a small church, where a select few attendees who were at the awards ceremony received an invitation. Kevin and Nick Jonas were a part of the ceremony and performed acoustic music selections, while an Elvis impersonator officiated. These two prove that true love is still alive and well, and that you don’t need a fancy ceremony to prove it. If these two can have an Elvis wedding it seems that anyone can.
