Jessica Chastain In Talks For Beverly in ‘IT:2’

Published

on

Shortly after the release of 2017’s IT, the writers of IT:2 kicked off negotiations with adult actors to portray the main characters for the sequel. Recently, it was reported that the first of these adult actors, Jessica Chastain, is officially in negotiations to play the adult Beverly Marsh.

The IT Sequel

Unlike the 1990 miniseries IT, the film remake is broken into two parts. The first part takes place when The Loser’s Club members are young teens in the mid-80s and the second movie, IT:2, catches up with the rest of the story from Stephen King’s novel 27 years later.

Beverly Marsh, played by Sophia Lillis in the 2017 film, is one of the seven members of the Loser’s Club. She’s a strong 15-year-old girl who was sexually abused by her father and rumored around the small town of Derry to be a slut. But those rumors, like most in a small town, aren’t true. She and her friends fight Pennywise, the evil immortal clown who kills children in Derry every 27 years.

Beverly Grows Up

Beverly makes it out of Derry, but the scars from her abuse and from Pennywise follow her everywhere she goes. After 27 years, she comes back to Derry to fulfill her promise to her best friends, to return to if IT ever surfaced again.

IT:2 is set to premiere in September of 2019. The announcement that Chastain is in the running for one of the lead roles definitely has fans curious about who else will join the adult-version of the Loser’s Club.

Perfect For Beverly

Chastain has been known to played strong-willed women throughout her career, so it only makes sense she would play Beverly, who bravely took the lead several times in IT against bullies in town and against Pennywise himself.

She holds a Golden Globe and has been nominated for two Academy Awards. One of the nominations was for her portrayal of a CIA agent in Zero Dark Thirty in 2012. Chastain is not only a talented actress, but she even looks like a grown-up Sophia Lillis, so her casting would be a great fit. The only thing holding her back? Scheduling issues. So, if that gets worked out, we should be seeing her as Beverly in IT:2 in 2019.
