For The Love Of Money: Jamie Lee Curtis Only Saw ‘Halloween H20’ As A Quick Paycheck

When it comes to acting, many stars simply want to display their talents for the world to see. Others just want a sweet paycheck. One Golden Globe-winning star plead guilty to taking a role solely because of money.

The Night He Came Home!

Jamie Lee Curtis is best known to horror fans as Laurie Strode from the Halloween franchise. After Halloween III, she exited the franchise to focus on nominated roles in Trading Places and A Fish Called Wanda. When 1998’s Halloween H20: 20 Years Later was being pitched, she was asked to reprise her iconic role.

Curtis recently admitted that she only saw dollar signs when it came to doing the film. “‘H20’ started out with best intentions, but it ended up being a money gig. The film had some good things in it. It talked about alcoholism and trauma, but I ended up really doing it for the paycheck,” she told Variety.

The Trick Was To Stay Alive

What attracted Curtis to jump on board for 2018’s Halloween was how the film was being shot. Instead of having a massive amount of money on hand, Blumhouse Productions shot the flick on a $10 million budget.

Over the years, Blumhouse Productions has been the king of low budget films. Their most successful franchises are InsidiousParanormal Activity and The Purge.

Let’s Celebrate The Horror

The 2018 installment of Halloween will find Strode facing off against Michael Myers one last time. When it came to working on the film, director Jason Blum knew he needed Curtis and John Carpenter on his side. “You can’t make ‘Halloween’ without John Carpenter and Jamie Lee Curtis. If you did, you’d be starting out with two and a half strikes against you,” Blum told Variety.

Halloween will arrive in theaters on October 19, 2018.
