Jamie Lee Curtis Coming Back For ‘Halloween Kills’ And ‘Halloween Ends’

Jamie Lee Curtis

When Jamie Lee Curtis returned for last year’s Halloween sequel, fans were completely satisfied with her appearance. It’s been years since Laurie Strode was face to face with her enemy Michael Myers. Now, Curtis is set to return for two more Halloween films.

More Halloween To Come

The announcement was made while many people were scoping out San Diego Comic Con. Curtis will star in Halloween Kills (October 16, 2020) and Halloween Ends (October 15, 2021). On Twitter, Curtis shared a short teaser clip to get people excited. “It ain’t over till the fat lady sings.” Well, my friends and fans… I’m just WARMING UP! Happy Halloween,” she tweeted.

Fans were delighted that Curtis is coming back for two more films. Some are concerned about how Myers can actually be stopped. “At this point, we need to realize that special forces have to be called in…SEALS, The Expendables, Hobbs and Shaw, Jason Bourne, that gopher from Caddyshack. There has to be some way to kill this man,” twitter user imethankern said. One fan suggested that Myers should just quit. “All due respect but if Laurie isn’t related to Michael and there’s going to be two more films, does that just make Michael a super competitive guy who’s a sore loser. Jesus Michael! Take a loss and try out another town,” twitter user DwightFry said.

40 Years Later, Evil Returns Home

Halloween walked away with a worldwide box office total of $255.5 million. With its $10 million budget, that’s enough cash to make multiple Halloween films. This also became the highest-grossing film in the Halloween franchise. The second highest-grossing film in the franchise is 2007’s Halloween, which earned $80 million. At the 2019 Fangoria Chainsaw Awards, it earned nominations in Best Wide Release, Best FX, Best Actor, and Best Actress. The film was directed by David Gordon Green, who worked on Pineapple ExpressYour Highness, and Snow Angels. As a direct sequel to 1978’s Halloween, the film finds Strode looking to finally take down Myers.

Curtis jumped on board for last year’s Halloween following a call from her Homegrown co-star. “That was a call from Jake Gyllenhaal, who had worked with David and said, “My friend David, who I love and had a really good experience with, wants to talk to you about a thing. You’ve gotta call David.” So, we spoke, and he sent me the script. I read it, and I called him that day,” Curtis told Collider.

Finally Getting What They Wanted

Before the development of Halloween, co-writer Danny McBride originally wanted to do back to back sequels. “We were going to shoot two of them back-to-back. Then we were like, Well, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. This could come out, and everyone could hate us, and we’d never work again. So, let’s not have to sit around for a year while we wait for another movie to come out that we know people aren’t going to like. So, we were like, Let’s learn from this, and see what works, and what doesn’t. But we definitely have an idea of where we would go [with] this branch of the story and hopefully we get a chance to do it,” he told Entertainment Weekly.

With a success like Halloween, it wasn’t hard to get those back to back sequels confirmed. These two movies will bring in some new members to the team. Scott Teems, who worked on Rectify and Narcos: Mexico, will co-write Halloween Kills. Paul Brad Logan and Chris Bernier will co-write Halloween Ends. Bernier has a history with horror as a producer for The House: A Hulu Halloween Anthology. Shooting is slated to begin in the near future.
