‘Saw’ Creator James Wan Eying A Batman Horror Flick?

Published

For James Wan, landing the directorial gig for Aquaman was a major opportunity. Being able to work with one of the biggest comic book companies is something many directors wish to accomplish. The Los Angeles native has big dreams of placing one iconic character in a terrifying situation.

Spook The Batman

In an interview with Heroic Hollywood, Wan discusses his desire for a Batman horror film. “In the past, like most people, I loved the idea of directing Batman, but a horror version. That would be a potential fantasy of mine, but I feel like he’s been done quite a fair bit. But, I do love the idea of doing an outright scary Batman. I feel like that’d be really cool,” he said.

Warner Bros.

In the comic books, Batman has been a part of some horror storylines, including Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on a Serious Earth. Recently, Batman dove into the dark world with Dark Nights: Metal and Batman: Damned.

Million Dollar Horror King

For Wan, he could make a horror film based on any DC character out there. As the creator of the Saw franchise, Wan has gained numerous accolades for his work.

Warner Bros.

Along with InsidiousThe Conjuring, and Annabelle, Wan has caused several nightmares over the years.

More Horror In The Works

Unfortunately for Wan, getting his hands on Batman may not be possible for now. The Caped Crusader is slated to appear in The Batman, which is being directed by Matt Reeves. Wan will be taking his talents to the DC Universe streaming service as a producer on Swamp Thing. This series is set to premiere in the fall of 2019.

Warner Bros.

Aside from Swamp Thing, Wan will be busy working on the yet to be named Annabelle sequel. Next year, he’ll start production on The Conjuring 3, which will be released on September 11, 2020.
