Johnny Depp Shocks Tourists by Stopping by Disneyland as Jack Sparrow

Published

Guests at Disneyland in California were treated to quite a surprise when they rode the “Pirates of Caribbean” ride this week. Johnny Depp, dressed as his character, Captain Jack Sparrow, showed up at several points and more than once on the ride. The movie franchise was inspired by the amusement park ride. He recited lines from the film franchise, interacted with people on the ride and waved his sword.

This Is Not the First Time Captain Jack Sparrow Visited the Ride

Depp was at the amusement park to promote the next installment in the film series, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. This is a promotional activity that he has taken part in before. Way back in 2003, before the release of the first film, Pirates of the Caribbean; Curse of the Black Pearl, he did something similar.

Social Media Ate This Up

Some fans caught footage of Depp/Sparrow and did what everyone does these days when they see something cool. They all took to social media:

Fans who were on the ride when Depp/Sparrow showed up had a great time with the experience. While they may not have been able to stop and chat with the actor, they were able to take video and photos.

Other franchise favorites, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightly have reprised their roles. It is said that Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will take the franchise back to the look and feel of the original film and will be different from film number 4, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Neither Bloom nor Knightly have been seen in the pirate movies since 2007.

The film is slated to hit movie theaters on May 26, 2017. It is unclear if Depp will make any more visits to the Disney ride in California or in Florida.
