Is The ‘Fast & Furious’ Franchise Finally Slowing Down?

Franchise

The Fast and the Furious roared onto movie screens across America in 2001. The film launched a wildly successful franchise of action movies with a devoted fan following.

The Fast & Furious movies have perfected the art of combining fast cars, explosions, well-choreographed fight scenes, and attractive people into a movie that appeals to every kind of viewer. So, it’s no surprise that the franchise is Universal’s most successful franchise ever, and the eighth highest-grossing film series in movie history.

Where Is The Series Going From Here?

Fans of the franchise have been wondering where the series is headed in the next few years. With 2019’s spinoff, Hobbs and Shaw, it became clear that people loved the characters from the Fast franchise. And since Fast 9 has already been filmed and Fast 10 is already in the works, there must be some story left to tell.

But will the story of this family of gearheads be done after Fast 10? Entertainment insider website, We Got This Covered, reports that franchise insiders say the main storyline of the Fast series will wrap up in the tenth movie.

Apparently, the end of this story is so epic that it needs two movies to wrap it up. Fast 9 and Fast 10 will be a two-part conclusion to the journey of Dominic Toretto and his crew.

The claim that Fast 10 will be the last of the series seems to be supported by an Instagram post Vin Diesel made on Thanksgiving. He expressed gratitude for the cast and crew of the Fast franchise after wrapping on Fast 9, and talked about how ready he was to move onto new projects.

Diesel’s reference to working on new things seems to allude to the fact that the franchise will be ending in the near future.

What We Know So Far

Dying to know how the franchise will end? Well, Fast 9 just finished filming, and Vin Diesel said he’s “immensely proud” of how it turned out. Director Justin Lin, who directed the majority of the Fast movies, said that this was the series’ most ambitious yet.

But beyond that, there are very few details about what’s in store for Fast 9. It has been confirmed that Fast 9 will continue the story that started in Fate of the Furious, but everyone involved has been tight-lipped about what that means.

At the end of Fate of the Furious Cipher, played by the incomparable Charlize Theron, was still on the loose. So, the best guess is that the crew will be headed after Cipher. This theory seems to be confirmed by the fact that Theron was announced as part of the Fast 9 cast.

We also know that John Cena, Cardi B, Ozuna, and Finn Cole will be joining the cast for Fast 9. The star-studded cast is a good indication that this movie will live up to its predecessors.

Hopefully, more details will be available soon. The movie releases in April 2020.

Is The Fast Franchise Done?

If Fast 10 is the end of the series, does that mean that the Fast franchise is completely done? Not according to Universal! The studio has said that the franchise will continue with a series of spinoffs. The studio has hinted that there are more Hobbs and Shaw spinoffs in the works. And Diesel has previously stated that an all-female spinoff of the franchise has been discussed as well.

So, it sounds like we’ll still see plenty of the Fast and Furious characters in the future.
