Iron Man Avengers 4 Theory Is Fascinating And Tragic For Tony Stark

Published

on

When we last left the Marvel Universe in Infinity War, Thanos used his new stones to wipe out half the population, including several of our beloved characters. As we close in on the release of Iron Man Avengers 4, one theorist offers a tragic yet plausible storyline for Tony Stark.

Back In Time

Reddit user sfmarch07 proposed an interesting theory, later fleshed out by Chris Smith at BGR. One of the main ideas is that time travel will become central to both upcoming films Captain Marvel and Avengers 4. Since Thanos has the time stone and Dr. Strange, the only other time traveler, disappeared when Thanos snapped his fingers, our heroes need to find another way to hop back and forth in time. If they can achieve that, the Avengers can cruise to the past to snag the Infinity Stones themselves.

A leaked photo of Avengers 4 showed Ant-Man and an older looking Tony Stark as additions in the battle in New York. We already know that Ant-Man has explored the Quantum Realm. Could his partnership with older Tony lead to Iron Man wielding a new power or possibly an Infinity Iron suit?

I’m A Soul Man

If, hypothetically, it was Tony looking for all the stones, we have to consider the Soul Stone. To acquire the Soul Stone, you must sacrifice something precious, as Thanos did when he pushed Gamora to her death in one of the more heart-wrenching moments of Infinity Wars.

If we’re thinking of Tony, sfmarch07 points out, Pepper Potts could be in danger. But there’s also the death of Tony’s parents, which is a pivotal moment for Tony’s character development and creates other ripple effects in the story line. Is it possible that Tony could have put out the hit on his own parents to possess the soul stone? A chilling and tragic thought.

The Deaths That Started It All

Tony’s parents died on December 16, 1991. We have a hunch that Captain Marvel takes place in the 90’s, since an astute fan noticed the Rock the Vote posters in a scene when Carol Danvers is in a phone booth. Could it be that Captain Marvel and Nick Fury are exploring some element of time travel related to Tony’s search for the stones and the death of his parents?

MCU has promised the trailer at the end of 2018 yet no date has been finalized for the movie. We’ll all find out if sfmarch07’s theory holds water in due time.

When Real-Life Plays A Part In TV Plotlines

Think you know why an actor exited a show? We’ll bet you didn’t even realize that some major show plots happened out of serendipity. Read on to find out how in some cases, the truth really is stranger than fiction.
