They first gained a lot of attention after so many videos popped up of a massive meteor flying through the sky in Chelyabinsk, Russia because the majority of drivers in Russia have dash cams. Since they never stop recording, even when you aren’t driving, you can have evidence of a lot of things!

You can prove in court that the car accident wasn’t your fault, you can see who banged up your parked car, you can look back at your awesome road trip or catch a live action footage of an actual meteor! Sure you might have a lot of boring footage of you driving down a highway, but you never know what you might capture.
