Infinity War Deaths May Have Been Foretold in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Published

on

Avengers: Infinity War has only been out for roughly three months, and fans are now in pursuit of clues from the other Marvel movies that could predict who lives and who dies. And when it comes to the fate of members of the Guardians of the Galaxy, it turns out Vol. 2 may have predicted what was to come. *Warning, Spoilers Ahead!!!*

Nebula Foretells Infinity War Ending

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the Guardians have taken Nebula into their custody and most of them leave to follow Quill’s father to his planet, leaving Rocket (and little Groot) to guard Nebula, who is less than pleased. “You’re going to leave me with that fox?!” she asks.

But fast forward to Avengers: Infinity War and we see just that: Nebula and Rocket are the only ones left after Thanos kills Gamora for the Soul Stone and wipes out half the universe with a snap of his Infinity Gauntlet fingers. And that’s not the only indication of what’s to come.

Vol. 2 Ending Foreshadows Rocket’s Companionless Future

In the final moments of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, when everyone is mourning Yondu’s death (with Cat Stevens’ “Father and Son” playing in the background), the screen pans to Rocket during the last few seconds , with the song lyrics: “I know I have to go away, I know I have to go.”

Rocket is the only Guardian that receives extended screen time during this scene — possibly foreshadowing the other Guardian’s deaths, thus leaving Rocket alone. But if you’re looking for clues as to the fate of the other Avengers from the previous Marvel movies, there’s one in particular that ominously predicts who will survive and who will not.

Civil War Scene Predicts Other Avengers Deaths

As can be seen in the picture, seated to the right are Falcon, Vision, and Scarlet Witch, while Captain America, Black Widow, and Iron Patriot/War Machine are on the left. Those who meet their end in Avengers: Infinity War are placed on the right while those who lived are on the left. Meanwhile, Tony Stark is isolated from the group, just like in Infinity War while the team does battle in Wakanda.

Of course, it’s possible fans are just reading too much into these movie moments and the correlations are all in their heads, but I think we can agree: these are some pretty strange coincidences.
