That House From ‘The Conjuring’? Still Haunted, Says The Couple Living There Now

Updated

on

In July 2013, The Conjuring premiered and terrified audiences around the world. Based on the real-life supernatural casework of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, The Conjuring has a bit of extra scare factor for being inspired by real events.

The house featured in the film is a real place, and was indeed investigated for paranormal activity by the Warrens. According to the couple that lives there now, the place is still haunted, and they’re planning to open it for tourists to experience.

The Purchase For True Believers

Cory and Jennifer Heinzen purchased and closed on the 1776 farmhouse on June 21st. The previous owners had sued Warner Brothers over the depiction of the home in the film because it invited numerous unwanted tourists and trespassers who caused damage to the property.

But the new owners are happy to have the spookiest house on the block, and plan on opening their doors to the fans.

“We immediately fell in love with it,” Cory stated. “Eight-and-a-half acres, a river in the back and a pond, it’s so serene down there. Never mind the story behind the house, it’s a beautiful home.”

Fans may remember that The Conjuring told the story of the Perron family who were tormented and terrorized by evil spirits in the house. Eventually, they reached out to paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren for help.

Currently, the home is undergoing renovations. The Heinzens hope to fix it up and open it to tourists and paranormal investigators later this year.

The Spirits Are Still Active In The Home

The Heinzens say that the house is still haunted.

“We had doors opening, footsteps and knocks,” Cory Heinzen explained. “I’ve had a hard time staying there by myself. I don’t have the feeling of anything evil, [but] it’s very busy. You can tell there’s a lot of things going on in the house.”

According to the Perron family’s experience, the hauntings started simply enough. Eventually, the incidents grew more violent. Carolyn Perron had dug into the history of the home. She found that a family lived there for eight generations, and most of them died horrible deaths or committed suicide.

Cory was able to meet Andrea Perron and hear her experience firsthand. Andrea informed Cory that an exorcism was never performed in the house, but a seance was. After the seance was over, Robert Perron made the Warrens leave and remained in the home until 1980. This could explain why the Heinzens are still experiencing haunted activity in the home.

Despite the odd things going on in the home, the couple is very excited. They can’t wait to finish the renovations that will allow tourists to stay a night or two in the home. Hopefully the spirits in the home just stay busy and not violent.

“This whole journey has been both scary — for many reasons other than paranormal — and exciting all at once,” Jennifer added. “I love that we have the opportunity to share the home with others.”

Ed And Lorraine Warren’s Story Continues

A third Conjuring film is in production and is scheduled to premiere on September 11th, 2020. Director James Wan stated,

“There could be many more [Conjuring] movies because the Warrens have so many stories.”

Audiences have already been introduced to a few other experiences Ed and Lorraine Warren have documented.

Annabelle, Annabelle: Creation, and Annabelle Comes Home explored the demon-possessed doll from the opening of The Conjuring. In 2018, The Nun was released, explaining the backstory of the exorcism shown as a clip in film. Another spin-off film in the franchise called The Crooked Man is in development.

With over 10,000 cases investigated, there is plenty of material for the film series to draw from. Audiences will have to wait to see what will haunt them next.
