5 Reasons Why The Hound Is The MVP Of Game Of Thrones

Published

on

Can you imagine Game of Thrones without the Hound? As the younger brother of Ser Gregor Clegane, he’s a fiercely loyal bodyguard and a skilled fighter. With the show coming to an end, fans are realizing how relevant this character is to the plot. Here are five reasons why The Hound is the number one MVP of GoT.

Death By Fire

If you watch the show, you’ll know that The Hound is afraid of fire. Obviously, you can tell by his face that he’s been burned in the past. However, it seems like he’s conquered this fear when he had to fight Beric and his flaming sword. Looks like exposure therapy works!

Arya Vs. The Hound

Everyone knows that The Hound and Arya have a complex relationship. She actually planned to kill him at one point. Of course, she had every right to mad at him for his part in the death of her father. Eventually, the two actually end becoming pals, and she removes him from her death list.

Redemption Song

The Hound is bound for redemption in GoT’s last season. He started showing remorse for his brutish actions in season seven. When he robbed a farmer and his daughter in season three, they ended up starving because they were broke. After he stumbles upon their lifeless bodies again, he actually gives them a proper burial.

Cersei Faceoff

One popular GoT fan theory is that The Hound will end up killing Cersei. Although Throne-heads also believe that she could be murdered by Jaime or Tyrion, The Hound could also end up being responsible for her death. Guess we’ll all just have to tune in and see for ourselves!

The People’s Champion

In a world where all that matters is nobility and power plays, The Hound has become the people’s champion of the series. He’s discovered empathy, became a father figure to Arya, and experienced the cruelty of the upper class throughout the show. We’re excited to see what The Hound does next!

When Real-Life Plays A Part In TV Plotlines

Not every show has its plot lined out from the moment the pilot airs, and still, sometimes real-life can get in the way. Even the best laid plans can go awry, and sometimes plotlines are created entirely to accommodate an actor’s unexpected personal issue. From pregnancies to off-set injuries (and of course plenty of on-set injuries), writers are reworking scripts so that you’d never know something else was happening behind the scenes. Think you know why an actor exited a show? We’ll bet you didn’t even realize that some major show plots happened out of serendipity. Read on to find out how in some cases, the truth really is stranger than fiction.
