5 Reasons Why The Hound Is The MVP Of Game Of Thrones

Game of Thrones

Can you imagine Game of Thrones without the Hound? As the scarred and curmudgeonly younger brother of Ser Gregor Clegane, he’s a fiercely loyal bodyguard and a skilled fighter. With the show coming to an end, fans are realizing how relevant this character is to the plot. Here are five reasons why The Hound is the number one MVP of GoT.

Death By Fire

If you watch the show, you’ll know that The Hound, while generally unshakable, is afraid of fire. Obviously, you can tell by his face that he’s been badly burned in the past. However, it seems like he’s conquered this fear when he had to fight Beric and his flaming sword. Looks like exposure therapy works!

Arya Vs. The Hound

Everyone knows that The Hound and Arya Stark have a complex relationship. She actually planned to kill him at one point. Of course, she had every right to be mad at him for the part he played in the death of her father. Eventually, the two actually end up becoming pals with a deep understanding and respect for one another, and she removes him from her notorious death list.

Redemption Song

The Hound is bound for redemption in GoT’s last season. He started showing remorse for his brutish past actions in season seven. When he robbed a farmer and his daughter in season three, they ended up starving because they were broke. After he stumbles upon their lifeless bodies again, he actually gives them a proper burial, symbolizing the evolution of his morals.

Cersei Faceoff

One popular GoT fan theory is that The Hound will end up killing Queen Cersei. Although Throne-heads also believe that she could be murdered by Jaime or Tyrion, The Hound could also end up being responsible for her death. Guess we’ll all just have to tune in and see for ourselves!

The People’s Champion

In a world where all that matters is nobility and power plays, The Hound has become the people’s champion of the series. He’s discovered empathy, became a father figure to Arya, and experienced the cruelty of the upper class throughout the show. We’re excited to see what The Hound does next!
