Just in case you’ve been living under a rock, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been a powerhouse in theaters lately. One of the key traits leading to its success is its female heroes. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige says there’ll be much more where that comes from in the future.

A Bright Future

While promoting Ant-Man & The Wasp, Feige promised to incorporate more female heroes soon. In fact, he stated that there will be more females than males in the not-so-distant future of the MCU.

Marvel Studios

“I think we’re getting to the point soon where we have so many great female characters that those are just our heroes as opposed to when are they all female, all male. It’s just the Marvel heroes, more than half of which will be women,” he told Screen Rant.

Who Run The World?

Since the beginning of the MCU, the popularity of its female heroes has been growing at a rapid rate. While it started with Black Widow in Iron Man 2, heroes such as Gamora and Maria Hill also grew to be fan favorites.

In the TV world, Jessica Jones and Agent Carter gave their respective heroes the spotlight. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has also delivered amazing female heroes in Quake, Melinda May, Jemma Simmons, and Slingshot. Recently, Runaways and Cloak & Dagger have brought even more female heroes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Another Captain Approaches

On March 8, 2019, Marvel will have their first female-led solo film with Captain Marvel. The movie, which is directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, will conclude filming this summer.

Captain Marvel will take viewers back to the ’90s to see how Carol Danvers became one of the strongest Marvel characters ever. On May 3, 2019, the character will show up in Avengers 4 to help out the beloved Marvel superhero team.
