IF Henry Cavill Is Out As Superman, Here’s Who We Think Should Replace Him

Published

on

Henry Cavill has been the talk of the town lately, but not for anything good. Rumors have been swirling about him leaving his Superman role for good. While the actor has been dodging this gossip, many replacements have been thrown around. These stars could take Cavill’s spot in a heartbeat.

Hammer Things Out

Armie Hammer has been trying to play a DC Comics character for over a decade. In 2007, he was set to portray Batman in the cancelled Justice League: Mortal film. Recently, he’s been in talks to play Hal Jordan in 2020’s Green Lantern Corps. If that somehow falls through, a possible run as Superman can be in the works.

A Second Chance?

It’s hard to believe that Zac Efron turned down the chance of playing Superman. But that’s exactly what happened during the Man of Steel casting. The High School Musical star wanted to take part in more dramatic movies. He was recently rumored to portray Nightwing in the films, but that was debunked by director Chris McKay. Efron could find himself staring back at the role he turned down from the start.

A Goode Thing

Matthew Goode entered the comic book movie world with a stellar performance as Ozymandias in Watchmen. He originally lost the Superman gig to Cavill, but he still kept in touch with the studio. Goode was rumored to have a small part in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but it was nixed due to scheduling.

No Delays Here

Let’s face it: that Gambit movie is probably never going to get made. Tatum has the physique to pull off being the Man of Steel. The Alabama native already has the voice down. He’s lent his voice to Superman in 2017’s The Lego Batman Movie and the forthcoming The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part.

Somebody Save Me

Tom Welling probably gets thousands of messages daily about replacing Cavill. The Smallville star technically never got to be Superman until the show’s series finale. His performance of Clark Kent earned him numerous nominations at the Teen Choice Awards. While he’s not a major movie star, the inclusion of Welling might give the DC Extended Universe a boost.
