Christmas is coming early and it’s all thanks to Hallmark. Keeping up with tradition, the network will air holiday movies this summer in July, including two new flicks to get viewers in the Yuletide spirit. Talk about a great present!

Christmas In July

Hallmark is known for its romantic Christmas movies to gear up for the biggest holiday of the year. In fact, the network will air a record-breaking 40 new films as we start the countdown to Christmas right after Thanksgiving Day. The new films will bring the number of original Hallmark Christmas movies to around 214 total. But before we even get to December, Hallmark is continuing its annual Christmas in July tradition by airing fan-favorite original Hallmark films that feature stars like Candace Cameron Bure, LeAnn Rimes, and Kellie Pickler. The “Gold Crown Christmas” event will air on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries from June 28 through July 14 while Hallmark Channel will kick off its “Keepsake Christmas” campaign starting July 12 through July 27. The best part? Each channel will air one completely new holiday film for viewers.

Holiday Fun

Christmas Camp, starring Lily Anne Harrison and Bobby Campo, will air on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries on July 7 at 9 p.m. The film focuses on advertising exec Haley (Harrison) who must land a toy company as a client in order to get a big promotion. Since the company is all about Christmas traditions, she attends a “Christmas Camp,” to learn more about the holiday. While she is there, she meets and hangs out with the camp owner’s son (Campo). Of course, drama and eventual romance ensue. A Merry Christmas Match will premiere on July 13 at 8 p.m. on Hallmark Channel. The film stars Ashley Newbrough and Kyle Dean Massey and centers around a woman named Corey (Newbrough) who is all about Christmas. She lives in a ski village, works in her mom’s antique shop, and puts on an annual children’s Christmas pageant in loving memory of her father. A  man named Ryder (Massey) comes to town and Corey begins to question if she should have left town and followed her dreams of becoming a theater director.

Yuletide Prep

In recent years, Hallmark has debuted one new Christmas movie per network in July. Last year, however, it did not. Now, the network is making it up to fans with these new films for its mid-year event. December will be even busier than July with the flood of movies coming to both Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies and Mysteries. One of the films, The House of Wooden Santas, will star Trevor Donovan and is based on Kevin Major’s 1997 novel of the same name. Lacey Chabert will team up with Sam Page in her eighth Hallmark Christmas movie, Christmas in Rome. Set and shot in Rome, Chabert plays an American tour guide named Angela, who is fired from her job right before Christmas. Soon after, she meets Oliver, a fellow tourist, who hires her to be his personal tour guide. Another upcoming movie, Christmas Town, stars Bure (also in her eighth Hallmark Christmas movie). The movie tells the story of Lauren Gabriel (played by Bure) who leaves the big city for the small town of Grandon Falls. Along the way, she meets a few townspeople who remind her of the real reason for the season. The Christmas Song will be Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth’s debut role on the network. She plays a youth choir director who discovers the vocal talent of one of her students. However, the young boy’s dad, played by Party of Five’s Scott Wolf, has no idea that his son wants to sing. With all of these movies in the lineup, Hallmark has a busy year ahead. Fans are already anticipating these and other great holiday films this year and they certainly won’t be disappointed.
