5 Game Of Thrones Stories We Want To See In a Prequel Series

Published

on

As the final season of Game Of Thrones approaches, fans are chomping at the bit for more. Upon learning that the eighth season would be the last, many are championing the idea of a prequel series. In the season seven finale, Bran’s powers as a warg gave fans a glimpse into life before the slow demise of Westeros. However, in addition to the Lyanna/Jon backstory, we want an explanation of these five Westerosi myths.

The First Long Night

Since the first episode, we’ve known that “winter is coming,” a.k.a. the Long Night. No one knows how long they will last, especially since the first Long Night occurred over 8,000 years before Aegon conquered Westeros. Legend has it that the first Long Night lasted an entire generation and that a similar phenomenon to the current White Walker invasion happened back then.

Who Were The First Men?

The Night’s Watch talks about the First Men a lot. We even get to see some of the historical landmarks they left behind in the series. However, the show doesn’t explain much about how the first settlers of Westeros actually got there some 12,000 years before Aegon. It is known that they fought the Children of the Forest, but eager fans would love to see some of this action in an actual prequel.

Aegon’s Conquests

It is known that the Targaryens ruled for quite a long time before Robert’s rebellion. It all started with Aegon the Conqueror riding into Westeros on his dragons, swiftly defeating his enemies, and forging the Iron Throne from the swords of the slain. Not only is this an epic story, but one that needs at least a prequel season or two to fully develop.

The Targaryen Family Story

The entire Targaryen bloodline can get confusing for fans who haven’t read the novels (and even for those who have). We know that Aegon the Conqueror landed in Westeros a long time ago with his dragons and forged the Iron Throne, and we know about Rhaegar starting the rebellion over Lyanna, but the rest of the family tree is under-embellished. Fans would love to know more about the dirty secrets of this famous family.

The Lyanna Stark/Rhaegar Targaryen Scandal

As of the last GoT season, we know the real backstory between Lyanna and Rhaegar that started the rebellion, and subsequently everything else we’ve seen in the seven seasons of the show. Fans would love to see this action unfold, as well as the events that set Robert’s Rebellion into action. There would be lust, blood, guts, and drama at every moment. What could be a better prequel story than that?
