Samantha Clark cares about animals and wants them to receive love and affection, which was why when she got married she opted to replace traditional bouquets with an adorable litter of puppies.

“I have three dogs of my own,” Clark told The Dodo. “I originally wanted to incorporate them, but they already have a home and plenty of love. I wanted to incorporate animals that needed both love and a home.”

To pull off the unique idea, Clark coordinated with AHeinz57 Pet Rescue and Transport, an Iowa-based group that recently took in over 100 animals that were affected by Hurricane Harvey.

The animal group was delighted with the idea since the event would hopefully encourage people to adopt pets. The bride said that nobody minded having furry pets instead of flowers and guests were excited to see cute the little puppies at the event.

“The bridesmaids were in heaven with them!” Clark shared. “And the guests were in awe!”

While puppies tend to be messier than flowers, the bride shared that they did not encounter any problems with having the dogs around.

“They were a huge hit. The bridesmaids were ecstatic to hold them down the aisle. It all flowed very perfectly,” Clark told the Inside Edition. “They were the best, well-behaved puppies I’ve dealt with.”

Clark’s wedding and reception also served as a venue for the pet rescue organization to introduce their work and the puppies to guests. The group gave out adoption applications for those who were interested in giving a loing home to the rescue puppies.

“We had a booth set up at the wedding and reception that had a log of adoptable dogs,” Clark said. “I’ve been told many adoption applications have been submitted.”
