When it comes to alcohol, most celebrities enjoy having a drink or two. For them, it’s a great way to wind down after a hectic day at work. Others, however, will politely turn down some booze at the next party. These five celebrities have openly kicked alcohol to the curb.
As a businesswoman, Tyra Banks is too busy signing deals to touch alcohol. “I feel like I’ve been very lucky because I don’t really have an addictive personality. I’ve never had any drugs, and I had a little taste of alcohol when I was 12 years old, but that’s about it,” she told Forbes.
DJ/producer Calvin Harris dropped alcohol because it affected his work. At one point, he was drinking two bottles of Jack Daniels every night. “If you drink, you can’t even remember if it’s a good show or not — and that’s probably for the best because it would have been rubbish because I’d have been drunk and not making any sense,” he told the BBC.
While filming the Harry Potter movies, Daniel Radcliffe developed an alcohol addiction. “I was living alone, and I think I was really freaked out. I drank a lot. I think it was more to do with going out in public and having a battle within me of thinking no, I can have a totally normal life,” he said on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast. Fortunately, he’s been living a sober lifestyle for years.
Platinum-selling singer Leona Lewis avoids alcohol because she hates how it tastes. “I can have a great time without alcohol. I don’t need that to get me up on the dancefloor, I’m there already. I’ll sometimes have a little Red Bull. That’s my little buzz,” she told InStyle. Without alcohol, she’s able to deliver great performances on stage every night.
Actress/singer Jennifer Lopez hasn’t touched alcohol since 2003. The main reason for avoiding it is its ability to damage your skin over time. When asked about what she drinks in her huge cup, Lopez told Vanity Fair, “It’s just water in there.” Lopez also drinks a cup of coffee to kickstart her day.
