Carrie Mathison Hits New York in First Homeland Season 6 Trailer Teaser

Published

Hot in the heels of yet another brilliant season, Homeland Season 6 premiers at a special time in the US history. If the recently released teaser trailer is anything to go by, this promises to be yet another absorbing season full of drama, suspense and breathtaking action.

Several months after thwarting a dangerous terrorist attack in Berlin, Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) flees to US soil and settles down in Brooklyn, New York. But given her sharp, curious and investigative nature, the CIA officer assigned to the US counterterrorism center doesn’t take long before getting into life-threatening situations.

The teaser trailer gives us a glimpse of a tense scene involving Mathison and her mentor Saul (Mandy Patinkin). Saul appears to warn her about something but Mathison being who she is appears to stand her ground firmly.

Set in the backdrop of after-effects of the heated US presidential election campaigns, Homeland Season 6 is an espionage thriller with immense wealth of creativity founded on a solid script.

The Emmy award winning series, though set in New York, has been shot in Berlin and South Africa and is currently under production. Although, it does not exactly mimic all the details of the USA presidential polls, it captures a strange transitional moment in the course of transfer of power in key government institutions. It also tackles the issue of terrorism, Islamophobia and deep inter-religion divisions plaguing the country. Mathison in particular works with Muslims living in the USA attempting to reconstruct a weakened national fabric.

The series is set to return on 15th of January 2017 which is just a few days before the actual USA presidential inauguration. The much-awaited thriller will take the usual 9 pm time-slot on Showtime.

Some of Homeland’s regulars who will be gracing our screens in season 6 include F. Murray Abraham (Dar Adal), Mandy Patinkin (Saul) and Rupert Friend (Peter Quinn). The last we saw of Quinn he was lying in a hospital bed unconscious and unresponsive – presumably dead.

The new season’s storyline has created room for special guests including Robert Knepper, Hill Happer, Dominic Fumusa and Patrick Sabongui. It is safe to say that the entire season focuses on fragile moments that characterize the period between Election Day and inauguration.

Riding on the success of Season 5, which garnered over 1.66 million viewers and high ratings of 8.4 out of 10, Homeland Season 6 aims to take the bar for psychological thrillers a notch higher.
