This Is Why We’re So Excited For Cary Joji Fukunaga’s Bond Film

Published

James Bond has been a beloved and memorable espionage icon for many decades, and now the 007 franchise will receive a new director for the upcoming Bond film Bond 25, Cary Joji Fukunaga. Here are the top five reasons why you should be excited about the new Fukunaga Bond film.

First American Bond Film Director

Most of the Bond films previously made were not directed by Americans. Fukunaga is the first American to direct a James Bond franchise film. Not only is this exciting, but it is groundbreaking because he also has the experience to render the film an entertaining experience while staying true to the source material.

Fukunaga’s Experience In Action Films

Fukunaga is the man for the job of directing a James Bond film since he has experience with directing and cinematography in various other action films such as True Detective (which won him an Emmy in 2014). He is also famous for directing, co-producing and writing Beasts of No Nation, which won many film awards.

Fukunaga’s Experience In Suspense

Fukunaga has directed many films, but his screenwriting is also a laudable reason why his new Bond film will be a hit. He co-wrote one of 2017’s most suspenseful and frightening films, Stephen King’s film adaptation of It. Not only is his writing effective, it just goes to show how far his talents have truly stretched.

His Cinematography Skills Are On-Point

Many aspects contribute to a film’s entertainment value and emotional effectiveness, but none are quite as important as quality cinematography. Fukunaga, fortunately, earned a nomination award for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Cinematography. Not only is he gifted in directing but the shots in his films are spectacular to boot.

His Friendship With Idris Elba

Not only is Fukunaga an excellent director, writer, and cinematographer but he is also friends with Idris Elba who might star, but is not confirmed, in the upcoming Bond film. Idris Elba has been noted many times for his talent in acting but this will only be made smoother with a friendship to solidify that chemistry both on and off screen.
