Published

on

Academy Award winner Emma Stone is no stranger to the world of the Spice Girls. The self-professed fan of the English pop band has recently recorded a video in homage to them in the name of a good cause. The American pop rock band HAIM joined her in the effort and started a contest that is sure to be a success.

Omaze Contest For Charity

In a near perfect recreation of the Spice Girls classic music video Stop, Emma Stone and HAIM revealed that a contest is being held that will send the funds to charities. The winner of the contest will get to attend a Spice Girls concert in London, United Kingdom. In addition, the winner will also get exclusive backstage access to see HAIM, the Spice Girls, and Emma Stone herself.

All funds generated by the Omaze contest are going straight to a sizable list of charities. These organizations include Girl Up, Child Mind Institute, Los Angeles LGBT Center and many more.

The Video Demonstrates A Love For A Classic Band

While the video isn’t long and is frequently interrupted to give information about the contest, it clearly is a love letter to the Spice Girls. HAIM and Emma Stone perfectly lip sync to the music and recreate the exact movements of each Spice Girl. The special effects used to add graphics to the video even have a retro feel to them.

Considering the Spice Girls were one of the most popular bands from the 90’s so it’s no surprise that many would want to participate in the contest due to this video. Emma Stone has even mentioned her own love for the band before.

Emma Stone Is A Spice Girls Fan

Emma Stone’s real first name is Emily. However, after attempting several stage names when breaking into acting, she finally settled on Emma. The reason for this is her own love of the Spice Girls. Specifically, Emma Burton who is perhaps better known as Baby Spice.

You can watch the faithful recreation of the Spice Girls music video online. And be sure to participate and contribute to a wonderful cause.

Disclaimer: after you read about what went down, it might have you rethinking everything — were those angsty expressions just good acting, or were they bringing some real-life drama into it?
