Ellen Reveals Most Awkward On-Air Moments

Updated

on

After 15 years of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, it’s fair to say everyone’s favorite daytime talk show host has endured plenty of awkward moments. Some celebrity exchanges have been of the ‘Too Much Information’ variety and some have been downright weird. Of course, sometimes it’s the venerable host’s fault. Here are some of the best of the worst.

Kanye West Takes Over

It’s only natural that an appearance by Kanye West makes the list. Ellen hosted the rapper and husband of Kim Kardashian in 2016 and Kanye did what Kanye does: he ranted. And ranted. For more than six minutes, about everything from fashion to Facebook.

But sometimes, it’s all on Ellen to curb a wordy guest.

Ellen Forgets Something Big

When Katy Perry was on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2017, the titular host wanted to play a game of “Who’d You Rather?” Perry jokingly asked if she absoultely had to get married again. Ellen insisted Katy had never been married, only to have the singer remind her of her 14-month marriage to Russell Brand.

We wish we could forget some of these awkward Ellen moments.

Jessica Simpson Is All Over The Place

Remember that one time that Jessica Simpson told Ellen she doesn’t brush her teeth? Yeah, it gets worse. She addressed the age-old issue of mermaids peeing, guesstimated how long her relationship to husband Eric Johnson was and basically said anyone could be a fashion mogul. It was bad.

At least she didn’t dance awkwardly.

Hillary Clinton Does A Cringey Dance

You know how awkward and uncomfortable it gets when old people try to act hip? Well, that’s exactly how it felt when Hillary Clinton went on Ellen’s show and did the Whip and Nae Nae with professional dancer, Twist.

It’s just as weird to have young people perform as well.

Miniature Bruno Mars, On Command

There’s no denying little Kai is adorable, but maybe being adorable doesn’t mean you should go on the Ellen show and sing Bruno Mars. Badly. Multiple times. But Ellen herself must have thought it was a great idea, because that’s exactly what happened. Hopefully for the last time.
