Elementary Schooler’s Cover of “Imagine” Brings Parents to Tears

Beginning to learn the piano at the age of 5, 10-year old Adam Kornowski and his parents have released several Youtube videos featuring his piano performances. One in particular, however, has been making headlines across the internet.

A Classic Performance

Last May, Adam performed a cover of John Lennon’s iconic hit “Imagine”, one of the most influential singles to ever be released. The pensive song asks the listener to imagine a world without religion, countries, and the other borders that bring war and chaos into the world.

While originally written in 1971, “Imagine” is still played constantly today, even christening Strawberry Fields in mosaic form as a memorial to Lennon. So, when the Minnesota fourth-grader sat down at the piano to perform Lennon’s classic during Lakeside Elementary School’s talent show, nothing seemed out of the ordinary, until he began to sing.

Proud Mom’s Post Goes Viral

Adam’s mom, Michelle Cavarnos Kornowsky, shared a video of his performance on Facebook so that her friends could see her son’s undoubtedly talented performance. She never expected the kind of reaction it got, saying, “I think I really knew it was going to be something when I started seeing comments from outside of the country.”

The post has now been shared over 3000 times and has 13 million views. Adam has been quite surprised by the reaction, saying, “I am just a fourth-grader playing the piano.”

Not A Dry Eye In The Room

Adam’s mom wrote on Facebook that “there wasn’t a parent in the room with a dry eye by the end. He got a standing ovation and the applause lasted forever!”

Eventually, the reaction was too large for Michelle to continue responding to each compliment her son received. Instead, she wrote another post to thank everyone: “Please know if you liked, commented or shared it we are very grateful.”

Situated in the Santa Ynez Valley of Santa Monica, California, the almost 3,000 acre plot of land upon which Neverland Ranch was constructed has recently been placed back on the market.
