It was just a normal day when Pastor Brent Kelley took his three kids out for ice cream. But it was during that trip he witnessed something special that he knew he needed to share to the world: an elderly man feeding his wife ice cream – a sacrificial love between husband and wife.

In a Facebook post that had long gone viral, Kelley posted a picture of an elderly man feeding his wife ice cream while the old woman was sitting in the passenger seat of the car.
“So today, I took the kids to the pool and we stopped for ice cream on the way home. When I got my ice cream and pulled out, I realized that this elderly man beside me was sitting outside his car door, spoon feeding his wife ice cream who also looked in her late eighties. He draped a towel over her and slowly fed his bride in the 98-degree temperature. It was a beautiful display of love,” Kelley wrote.
The touching post already received almost 900,000 likes and over 300,000 shares and Pastor Kelley couldn’t believe that he would receive much attention in the media and elsewhere.
“When I made a post about an elderly man feeding ice cream to his wife, I never in my wildest dreams thought all of this would happen,” wrote Kelley in a separate Facebook post.
Nevertheless, Kelley shared that it wasn’t the mainstream media attention that moved him but the comments of the people who have seen and shared the picture as they revealed the true desires of a person’s heart.

“The one thing that captured my heart more than the media frenzy for the story or the likes and shares was the comments. It shows me that we live in a world who cries out for love,” Kelley wrote. “As I wrote the post I thought here is what God’s love looks like,” he added.
