Why We Liked The Dude And Carrie Bradshaw’s Super Bowl Ad

Last year, Crocodile Dundee made a surprising comeback at the Super Bowl. While many thought it was promoting a reboot, it was simply an ad for Tourism Australia. Now, another familiar movie character is making their return at the big game. They won’t be alone for this one, though.

The Dude Abides

Last month, actor Jeff Bridges shared a video with the caption, “Can’t be living in the past, man. Stay tuned.” The visual showed him reprising his role of The Dude from 1998’s classic The Big Lebowski. No one on social media knew what to think of this sudden announcement.

“Not all heroes wear capes. some have been wearing the same ratty cardigan for the past 21 years,” Twitter user @itsJeffTiedrich stated.

More Dude In The Future?

With the date February 3 seen at the end, everyone figured it would be a Super Bowl ad. When it came to what this ad could be, people had different takes. Most people assumed this would be a surprise reveal of The Big Lebowski 2. Last year, Netflix surprised everyone with a trailer for The Cloverfield Paradox, which was released after the game.

Unfortunately, the Coen brothers denied plans to do a sequel years ago. Fortunately, Lebowski star John Turturro will be doing a spin off film titled Going Places. This will revolve around the character Jesus Quintana.

An Unsuspected Crossover

Super Bowl commercials can’t stay locked away for long. The visual was officially released online, and fans are quite surprised. In this 44 second ad, The Dude runs into Sex and the City‘s Carrie Bradshaw at a fancy restaurant while ordering something to drink. Instead of going for their usual beverage, they both enjoy some Stella Artois beer.

The ad was done to raise awareness for having clean water around the world. Stella Artois have given over 1.7 million people the chance to have this necessity. Since both Sarah Jessica Parker and Jeff Bridges use their fame to do good, they both agreed to the spot. A lot of people can certainly abide for such a great cause.
