Juicy Details About Forthcoming ‘Star Trek’ Series With Captain Picard

Published

on

It’s been several months since the reveal of a new series involving Star Trek favorite Captain Picard. As expected, fans have been patient for some more information. While the show is currently in development, these new details will keep fans happy.

Some New Recruits

For Patrick Stewart, this will be his first time portraying Picard since 2002’s Star Trek: Nemesis. This series will take place decades after the conclusion of the film. “In returning to Star Trek later in the year, the one thing that will be different about this version of Star Trek is that we have simply moved the whole narrative 20 years from when I last wore Jean-Luc’s uniform [Star Trek: Nemesis]. So, everything has aged. When the series gets released you will see things are very different from what they were,” Stewart told Red Carpet News.

Luckily, Picard won’t be the only person on the series. So far, Michelle Hurd and Santiago Cabrera have been cast in undisclosed roles. Hurd is best known for her performance of Shepherd in Blindspot. Cabrera is best known for portraying Isaac Mendez in Heroes.

Years Of Stories

When the show was first announced, many fans assumed it would be a one season deal. While speaking to Red Carpet News, Stewart stated it could possibly run for a decent amount of time.

“We are set up for possibly three years of this show,” he said.

Reunited And It Feels So Good

Stewart will reunite with The Next Generation co-star Jonathan Frakes, who will direct an episode. The Pennsylvania native has directed episodes of The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Discovery. Aside from the shows, Frakes also directed the Star Trek films First Contact and Insurrection.

There’s no word if Frakes will reprise his role of William Riker for a cameo appearance. Riker’s last appearance was in the series finale for Star Trek: Enterprise. The new Picard series is slated to be released later this year on CBS All Access.
