Dean Cain Supports Michael B. Jordan As Superman

Published

on

Things are shaking up a tad in Hollywood’s superhero department as some actors are being switched out with newer, fresher faces. Surrounding the classic character of Superman is a great deal of buzz generated by the prospect that superstar Michael B. Jordan will assume the role of the Man of Steel.

Change Up

New superhero slots are opening up. Ben Affleck is apparently finished as Batman, and now many are saying that Henry Cavill is done as Superman. As far as the opening left by the latter, there is talk that the one and only Michael B. Jordan will be selected to fill the void.

Unfortunately but also unsurprisingly, talk of Jordan playing the traditionally white comic book character of Superman has left a few people uncertain of how they feel about such a change.

Strong Endorsement

Combatting that reluctance to change was Dean Cain, a former Superman himself. That’s right, Cain played the man of steel in Lois and Clark. Cain gave support for Jordan as Superman, reminding us that the hero is meant to stand for a lot more than just race and more about “truth, justice, and the American way.”

Cain also gave the reminder that Cavill himself was at one point a controversial pick for Superman as he was British. Cain even said that he “wouldn’t have blinked” if Jordan were to be cast in the roll.

Busy Man

It is worth noting that Jordan himself has seemed to shoot down the prospect of his filling the blue suit any time soon. That being said, Michael B. Jordan has been a busy man lately coming off the success of his Black Panther roll as he is set to star in a short film directed by Spike Lee and a drama directed by Denzel Washington.

While it seems unlikely that Michael B. Jordan will be playing Superman in the near future by his own admission, Dean Cain has his back if he changes his mind.
