‘Deadpool 3’ Release Announcement Coming Soon

Deadpool

With the Fox/Disney merger, many have wondered about the fate of Deadpool. With two successful films, fans are expecting to see him integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fortunately, Deadpool 3 will find its way to theaters sometime in 2022.

Where Could It Land?

This news comes from film insider Daniel Richtman, who relayed the message to his Twitter followers. “Also still hearing BoP and is great and still hearing Deadpool is likely for 2022 with some announcement coming in the coming months,” he tweeted.

Recently, Marvel Studios announced a slew of 2022 dates for some unnamed projects. Deadpool 3 can arrive in theaters on February 18, July 29, or October 7, 2022. With Deadpool‘s February release in 2016, February 18 might be the best solution for the film. With Deadpool becoming a massive franchise, though, Marvel Studios could give the film a major summer release. Since Marvel Studios is incorporating more fall releases, the film could land in October. As of this writing, Deadpool 3 wouldn’t have competition from any other comic book movie. This could change when dates for Shazam 2Black Adam, and Gotham City Sirens are announced. Deadpool 3 will be joining Black Panther 2, which will be released on May 6, 2022.

Three In A Row

In October, Ryan Reynolds teased fans about Deadpool 3‘s announcement. “Auditioned for the role of “Anthony Stark”. Didn’t come even remotely close, but the nice man with the taser escorted me to the ground,” he stated on Instagram. In the post, the actor is seen in the office of Marvel Studios. Weeks after the post, Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick gave Yahoo an update on the film. “It still is [in a holding pattern]. We sat with [Marvel Chief Creative Officer] Kevin Feige before the merger and we’re not allowed to talk to him about it,” Reese told Yahoo. “I think Ryan sat down with him more recently. But it’s still in the works. … They’re trying to work something out and then hopefully we can come through with something cool.”

When it comes to toning down Deadpool, Wernick believes he’ll still be the same. “I think the promise is that Deadpool will live in his R-rated universe that he was living in at Fox. And then over time hopefully we can play with some of those MCU toys in the sandbox,” Wernick told Yahoo.

Chimichangas For Everyone

Deadpool 3 poses a major question: How can the character integrate into the established MCU? A surprise cameo appearance in a post-credits sequence can be a perfect introduction to the shared universe. With his relationship with Spider-Man, Deadpool showing up in the third Spider-Man film is a strong possibility. From 2016 to 2019, the two starred in their own comic book series together. Deadpool 3 can also find some familiar faces showing up to give him some pointers. With the X-Men arriving in the MCU, Marvel Studios could use the film to introduce Wolverine & Co.

There is a chance of Deadpool not hanging with any MCU characters at all. “Disney doesn’t have any pressing need to mix Deadpool into their existing universe because it’s proven enormously successful without him, and he without it,” BoxOffice.com chief analyst Shawn Robbins told CNBC. This could also mean characters from Deadpool can’t mingle with MCU characters.

However they chose to introduce him, fans will be glad to welcome Deadpool with open arms. With a massive box office revenue, Disney is glad to acquire this popular character. “You’ll be seeing more of Deadpool in the years to come,” Disney chairman Alan Horn told the audience at Cinemacon.
