Why ‘Deadpool 2’ Was The Greatest Superhero Film Of 2018

Published

on

When it comes to superhero films in 2018, there were some major hits going on. Among a superhero war to end all wars and an underwater king, however, Deadpool 2 reigned supreme. It was so good, they had to re-release it with new footage. We look at reasons why Ryan Reynolds & Co. knocked it out of the park.

I’ll Be There For You

There’s nothing wrong with making friends. Throughout most of the film, Cable couldn’t stand being around Deadpool. Towards the end, the Merc with a Mouth turned him around. People left the theaters learning that friendship will get them through the toughest situations. We’re guessing that took a back seat to seeing their two favorites join forces, though.

Love Is Love

One big thing that stemmed from the film was the representation of LGBTQ characters. Negasonic found love with her new flame, Yukio. Having a lesbian couple on screen drew strong praise from GLAAD. “Negasonic and Yukio’s storyline is a milestone in a genre that too often renders LGBTQ people invisible, and should send a message to other studios to follow this example of inclusive and smart storytelling,” GLAAD President Sarah Kate Ellis said in a press release.

Bringing It All Together

For many people, other superhero films excelled in one category but failed in others. Deadpool 2 combined various elements for a fantastic visual feast. For the romantics, fans have their hearts pulled knowing Deadpool’s love has been killed. Comedy fans will find themselves continuously laughing at Deadpool’s quips. Of course, action enthusiasts will enjoy all of the fight scenes.

Dead To The World

With Infinity War, we knew that the fallen heroes would return in Endgame. Deadpool 2 decided to make sure that people were actually dead. It gave the film a more realistic vibe than a typical comic book. Sure, Deadpool brought a couple folks back from the grave, but everyone else is a goner.

Beauty Come Out Of Ashes

The music of Deadpool 2 was easily something that stood out from other superhero films. Nothing from the MCU or DCEU featured the talented Celine Dion. The iconic singer chose to work on the song “Ashes” because her son loves Deadpool. The music video for the track brought Reynolds and Dion together for an outrageously good time.
