Deadpool 2 Introduces Cable As Only Deadpool Can

Published

on

Everyone’s favorite fourth-wall breaking superhero is back to announce Deadpool 2 through a new series of promotional posters and a brand new trailer. If the previews are any indication, we’re in store for some of the same meta-humor that impressed audiences in Deadpool’s big-screen debut.

Hilarious References

Deadpool made a name for himself by poking fun at the film industry — including his fellow superheroes. Hugh Jackman was a running punchline throughout the first Deadpool and the promotional content for the second film is no different.

Comicbook

We’ve already seen the anti-hero make fun of the signature Alex Owens move from Flashdance, only Deadpool prefers a shower of bullet shells over water every day of the week.

Family Ties

He also took a stab at the classic Norman Rockwell painting during the Christmas season to introduce his newest frenemy: Cable.

Movie Fone

In the most recent trailer for Deadpool 2, we also saw the sarcastic superhero take shots at Marvel’s biggest comic book rival, DC Comics. When Cable’s metal arm came out green, Deadpool made a remark that referenced DC’s CGI correction of Superman’s mustache in the Justice League movie.

References Galore

Deadpool even made a reference to Toy Story in the trailer. Marketing has been the backbone of Deadpool since the very beginning. The viral campaign for the first film excited audiences, and lead to the first Deadpool becoming one of the most successful R-rated movies in history.

YouTube

Promotional material for the second movie is following the same format, and audiences are already clamoring to see what hijinks our foul-mouthed friend will get into the second time around. Deadpool 2 is set to hit theaters May 18 of this year.

Check out the trailer below, and stay tuned for more news about Deadpool 2!
