Amazing! Couple Reunites 50 Years After Families Force Them To Break Up

Love can be complicated. There is nothing worse than not having the support of your loved ones when it comes to who you choose as your partner. This disapproval can destroy an entire relationship.

One woman met the man of her dreams in college, but the two never made it down the aisle. Fifty years later, they are reminded of their love in the strangest of places.

Janice Rude Was Your Everyday College Sophomore In 1961

Janice Rude was completing her sophomore year of college at Occidental College in Los Angeles in the early 1960s. She worked in the cafeteria to make some extra money, and she always had the same student at the front of the line.

Prentiss Willson was a freshman at Occidental College, and Janice caught his eye early on. He would even be the first in line for food at 6 a.m. to get her attention.

“I actually didn’t think I had a chance with her. She was a year ahead of me and just so beautiful,” Willson admitted.

He was very, very wrong.

When Prentiss didn’t show up for Thanksgiving dinner at the college cafeteria, Janice took it upon herself to find him.

She got his address and made her way to his house, uninvited but determined to get to see her admirer.

The two became so smitten that they became engaged, but soon after they had to part ways. Janice’s father did not approve of Prentiss, and he threatened to stop paying for her education if she didn’t break off the engagement.

Janice was determined to finish school and get her degree, so the loving couple had to break up. Little did they know, their love story was only to be put on pause.

A Twist Of Fate In The 1990s Reminded Them Of Their Connection

In the late 90’s both Janice and Prentiss’ mothers passed away just months apart from each other.

While going through their mother’s belongings, these two were shocked to find their love was far from forgotten.

Both mothers had kept an original copy of the engagement announcement between their children Janice and Prentiss.

The mother of Janice had even had her copy laminated, and it stayed in her wallet for almost four decades.

“The mothers simply knew, and I think we also knew,” Prentiss stated. It wasn’t until a few years ago that Janice and Prentiss finally met up for brunch.

It became obvious that they were meant to be, and they decided to finalize what they started 50 years ago.

These Love Birds Finally Tied The Knot

The two decided to get married in the most appropriate place — their old college campus.

Janice and Prentiss married on the Occidental campus in the summer of 2012.

Fate works in mysterious ways, and sometimes that involves newspaper clippings from decades prior.

“Some things were just meant to be,” Prentiss stated.

Congrats to this amazing couple!
