Following the release of A Quiet Place, a sequel was automatically greenlit by Paramount. With production on the film coming up, more announcements are being released by the studio. One Golden Globe-nominated star is looking to join its growing cast.

Here Comes A New Challenger

The studio is in talks with Cillian Murphy to star in the movie. His character will be an outsider that joins the Abbott family. While there’s plenty of mystery surrounding this character, fans are excited about the casting.

“Cillian Murphy in the sequel of A Quiet Place? No matter what kind of role he plays, I’m there for it,” Twitter user MyLifeIsForfeit said. With his previous work, many fans have already guessed his character’s intentions. “Since it’s Cillian Murphy I assume his character appears to be the nice sort but is very much not,” Twitter user dawnyb said.

Blinding The World

Murphy had his breakout performance in the 2002 film 28 Days Later. In 2006, he earned a Golden Globe nomination for his work in Breakfast on Pluto. Since 2013, he’s been a part of the BBC crime drama Peaky Blinders. His performance earned him an Irish Film & Television Award for Best Actor in a Lead Role in Drama. When it comes to getting in shape for the role, Murphy follows the same process.

“It takes me a good six to eight weeks to limber up into him. Eating protein, going to the gym and just getting into the headspace again. Slowly getting into that mindset. Even when you get back on set the first time, it’s not easy. It’s not like riding a bike again. You go, ‘Oh, wow. I’m back into this.’ And then within a week, you’re thinking like him again,” he told GQ.

More Quiet Time

Murphy will join Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe, who are reprising their roles. With John Krasinski back as director, filming will begin this summer.

The sequel to A Quiet Place will be released on May 15, 2020.
