Christopher Nolan Will Unveil His Next Film In July 2020

Published

Christopher Nolan has been one of the most sought after directors in the field. Since 1998’s Following, he’s delivered consistent classics over the years. With his last film released in 2017, many have wondered when we’ll get another Nolan classic. Fortunately, it won’t be too long.

A Lasting Partnership

It was revealed that Nolan’s next film will be released on July 17, 2020. The director is slated to release this next box office smash through Warner Bros. Nolan and Warner Bros. have a long history together, which began with 2002’s Insomnia. His breakout hit with Warner Bros. was 2005’s Batman Begins. His work on The Dark Knight Trilogy earned the studio over $2 billion.

Warner Bros.

This upcoming feature film will be his 10th overall with Warner Bros as a director. As a producer, he’s worked on four films, including 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

An Oscar Powerhouse

Nolan’s last film Dunkirk received eight Oscar nominations, including his first for Best Director. The film gained awards for Best Film Editing, Best Sound Editing, and Best Sound Mixing. When it came to making the historical film, he talked those on the frontline.

“We did a series of interviews to gather impressions and material, really look in their eyes and hear what their experiences were. Some of those things very directly made it into the film,” he told NPR.

A Tough Battle Ahead

When it comes to July 17, 2020, Nolan has some stiff competition. On that date, Fox’s hit show Bob’s Burgers will make the huge jump to theaters. There’s also an unannounced animated film from Paramount being released. Fortunately, he doesn’t have to worry about any competition from the MCU or DCEU. Neither massive film universes have anything scheduled around that date.

Meanwhile, when the cameras weren’t rolling, the cast was up to plenty of off-set antics of their own. Disclaimer: after you read about what went down, it might have you rethinking everything — were those angsty expressions just good acting, or were they bringing some real-life drama into it?
