With Avengers: Endgame, fans will have to say goodbye to Captain America. For actor Chris Evans, this will be his final time with the suit and shield. Before walking away from the iconic role, Evans shines a light on one memorable moment.
Going Up Or Down, Captain?
Evans sat down with The Hollywood Reporter for their Fishing For Answers feature. The segment finds the Marvel star pulling fan questions out of a fishbowl. When asked about his favorite scene, the elevator fight in Captain America: The Winter Soldier stands out.
“I’m partial to that fight scene in the elevator, That was the first scene we shot in the second Captain America movie. It was my first time working with the Russos, it was the first time where it felt like Cap was kind of on his own,” he told THR.
Finding His Place
Evans landed the role of Captain America back in 2010. While he had experience with superhero films, 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger was a different ballgame. Evans found himself being guided through some of the tougher scenes.
“The first Cap movie, you know, you really felt like everyone was holding my hand, and in the first Avengers movie, I just did my best to not get in the way. The second Cap movie is the one that I really kind of felt, I suppose, pressure and that first elevator fight scene came out really great in my opinion,” he told THR.
Whatever It Takes
As expected, working on Endgame brought a wave of emotions to the star. “Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honor. To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful,” Evans tweeted.
Avengers: Endgame, which concludes the 22-film Infinity Saga, will hit theaters on April 26.
