Chris Evans will forever be known as Captain America to moviegoers. The actor earned millions of fans worldwide during his lengthy time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, the actor states there’s a small chance he could return to the role.
Ready For Another Round?
Evans appeared on The Graham Norton Show to discuss his new Apple TV+ show Defending Jacob. The discussion quickly turned to his beloved role of Captain America. When asked if he would return, Evans gave a careful answer. “It’s not a hard no, but it’s not an eager yes either. I think Cap had such a tricky act to stick the landing, and I think they did a really nice job letting him complete his journey,” Evans said on The Graham Norton Show.
For Evans, coming back can’t just be enticed by the dollar signs. “If you’re going to revisit it, it can’t be a cash grab. It can’t be just because the audience wants to be excited. What are we revealing? What are we adding to the story? A lot of things would have to come together.”
Hard To Say Goodbye
When word broke about Evans’ exit in Avengers: Endgame, fans worldwide were in disbelief. Since 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger, Evans was a power player in the MCU. After his portrayal of Human Torch in Fantastic Four, fans were glad he gained the perfect role. His work earned several awards, including a People’s Choice Award for Favorite Action Movie Actor in 2015.
Evans couldn’t play the role forever, though. As an actor, he wanted to dive into other performances. During his time in the MCU, he didn’t land as many roles as he could. After 2013’s Snowpiercer, Evans’ hectic schedule only allowed for three non-MCU movies.
Always On The Move
After Endgame, Evans has been able to focus on a slew of projects. Defending Jacob is Evans’ first starring role in a TV show since 2000’s Opposite Sex. In the show, Evans portrays Assistant District Attorney Andy Barber. While dealing with a murder case, there are some hints that the killer is Andy’s son Jacob. Michelle Dockery, J. K. Simmons, and Pablo Schreiber also join Evans in the show’s cast. Defending Jacob is one of Apple TV+’s most popular original series.
In the film world, Evans has been in talks to star in the Little Shop of Horrors remake. Evans is eyeing the role of dentist Orin Scrivello, who was originally played by Steve Martin. Former MCU co-star Scarlett Johansson is rumored to portray Seymour Krelborn’s coworker, Audrey. The remake is being produced by Arrowverse maestro Greg Berlanti.
Evans will also join the film Bermuda, which is about the Bermuda Triangle. This movie has been in development for the past five years. Evans will have some MCU company with Doctor Strange director, Scott Derrickson, working on this film. Work on the Little Shop of Horrors and Bermuda films will begin in the future.

The Memories Are Forever
While Evans is looking into the future, he’ll never forget his time in the MCU. His proudest moment was working on his MCU swan song, Endgame, which is the highest-grossing film ever. “Everything from Endgame was really special to me because my headspace was very much in the reflective, grateful part of it,” Evans also said on The Graham Norton Show. “You almost feel like you’re living in a memory; you feel like it’s almost like the moment’s already passed, so you’re really just trying to soak it in and just appreciate what this journey has been like.” With this journey, Evans gained some memories that will stick with him for the rest of his years.
