Celebrity Roommates: Who Did They Once Room With?

At one point or another, basically everyone has a roommate for at least a short while. When you’re young and just starting to get on your feet financially for the first time, having a roommate to split the rent and utility bills with every month can take a lot of stress of of your own shoulders.

Even though celebrities seem to have it all together it doesn’t mean they didn’t need a roommate just to get by. The best part about celebrities living with other celebrities is they both made it big in the industry! Here are some awesome celebrity duos who once used to be roommates.

7. Robin Williams and Christopher Reeve

Back in the day, Robin Williams and Christopher Reeve were just two of the twenty select students to attend Julliard school in New York City. The brilliant actors ended up as roommates in the dorms together, and their life long friendship started.

Throughout their adult lives and their incredibly impressive acting careers, Reeve and Williams continued to keep their friendship alive. They continued to be friends up until Reeves unfortunately passed away in 2004.

6. Connie Britton and Lauren Graham

Before her Gilmore Girls days, Lauren Graham used to be roommates with actress and singer Connie Britton, who is known for her roles on shows like Nashville , Friday Night Lights, American Horror Story. Though it wasn’t the best of living situations, Graham and Britton made it work before they each jumped head first into the acting business.

During an interview with “Watch What Happens Live”, Graham explains her roommate situation with Britton: “We lived in an empty house that we weren’t supposed to be living in. We had no furniture, and all we ate were Rice Krispies Treats.”

5. Michael Douglas and Danny DeVito

Before these two men were two of the most well known and popular male actors in the business, they were two kids studying the art of acting and trying to figure out how to make their way to Hollywood.

They met back in 1966, and two years later the two were moving in together to be roommates in New York! Though they each went their separate ways once their careers launched, DeVito noted in an interview with The-Talks that he continues to be friendly with his old roommate.

4. Adam Sandler and Judd Apatow

Before they were making millions of dollars with some of the funniest movies to ever grace the entertainment industry, Adam Sandler and Judd Apatow were just two hilarious men living in a Los Angeles apartment together. During an interview on 60 Minutes, Apatow mentioned “Back then, life was just doing stand-up or writing jokes.

You would sleep until noon every day and kind of stumble out. You would have to be at work at 8:30 at night. Work was sometimes 15 minutes.” Even after Sandler made the big move to New York to join the cast of Saturday Night Live, he continue to pay his half of the rent so as to not leave Apatow hanging.

3. Tommy Lee Jones and Al Gore

Would you have ever guessed that actor Tommy Lee Jones used to live with a man who would become the Vice President of the United States? Well back when they were just freshman at Harvard University, Jones and Gore met each other and that’s where their friendship started.

Later on after their Harvard years, the two got an apartment together and lived with each other until Jones’ acting career got off of the ground and Gore jumped into his career in politics. They are still very close to this day, and Tommy Lee Jones even volunteered to help with Al Gore’s presidential campaign years ago!

2. Jonah Hill and Justin Long

These two hilarious men in the entertainment world used to be roommates, and they were so close that friends said they basically lived together like an old married couple. They lived together in their California home before they each made names for themselves in Hollywood, and eventually their relationship forced them to go their separate ways and cease being roommates.

Back in 2009 when the two split, Long mentioned in an interview “We’re still great friends but it got to be like an old married couple. We fought over recycling. He would recycle everything. I would find banana peels and shards of glass in the recycling bin. We started getting in little fights like that, he left the bathroom door open, didn’t clean up after himself. Little things like that. It was time for a separation.”
