Many stars purchase things the rest of us can only dream of, and that definitely extends to their cars. From sports vehicles to luxury sedans, many of the Hollywood rich and famous are spending hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars just to go ‘vroom vroom’ in style. Here are some of the most expensive celebrity cars being driven around Hollywood.
1. Kate Upton – Mercedes-Benz SLS 6.3 AMG
Kate Upton is a three-time Sports Illustrated’s cover model. With such an accomplishment there appears to come a lot of perks, and one is access to some of the world’s finest automobiles. Upton reportedly owns two cars, one of which the Tesla Model S worth approximately $110,000. Upton’s second car is what she likely uses when it’s time to go out in style.
The Mercedes-Benz SLS was first unveiled back in 2009 at the Frankfurt Motor Show where it boasted a zero to 60 mph acceleration in 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 196 miles per hour. With speeds like that, and a price of $248,000, it’s likely that Upton will always be arriving on time.
2. Tom Cruise – Bugatti Veyron
An acclaimed action movie hero, Tom Cruise is also one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood. Known for performing his own stunts, it stands to reason that this adrenaline chaser would also be living life on the edge. So when Tom Cruise arrived at the premiere for Mission Impossible III, he seemed to know he needed to make an entrance.
Before stepping onto the red carpet, Cruise stepped out of his brand new Bugatti Veyron. The French luxury car typically goes for the price of a mansion! It’s cheapest version sells for about $1.7 million and can go for as much as $3 million. Not only is the Veyron itself expensive, but a single oil change can run the owner between $20,000 to $25,000. As crazy as that sounds, this magnificent car pales in comparison to some of the other celebrity cars on this list.
3. Leonardo DiCaprio – Fisker Karma
Leonardo DiCaprio has won numerous awards, starred in critically acclaimed films, and is a passionate climate activist. So it stands to reason that a world-renowned celebrity and environmental activist would need a car that would embody both lifestyles; enter, the Fisker Karma.
Made by former Aston Martin designer Henrik Fisker, the Fisker Karma is a hybrid luxury sports sedan. It has an impressive top speed of 125 mph and can jump from zero to 60 in 5.8 seconds. When its all-electric “stealth” mode is enabled, it can still hit a top speed of 95 mph. Out of all the expensive celebrity cars, it sounds like this one is one of the friendliest to Mother Earth.
4. Robert Redford – 1964 Porsche 904 GTS
Just three years before he starred in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Robert Redford purchased, what was at the time, a brand new racing vehicle. The 1964 Porsche 904 GTS is one of the last four-cylinder racing vehicles built by the Stuttgart marque. When the car went up for auction, its price reflected that uniqueness.
With just over 100 cars built, the atmosphere at the auction would likely have been palpable. Especially with the 1964 Porsche’s classic look and the fact that it was owned by a world famous movie star. By the time bidding was over, the car had sold for $1.2 million. While its racing days are long over, that car is probably the trophy car of any gear-head’s dreams.
5. Lady Gaga – Audi R8
Lady Gaga has entered the big-screen stardom with her role in the 2018 iteration of the film A Star is Born. Before then, she was mainly known for her work as a major international pop star. Based on her collection of numerous makes and models, it seems that Lady Gaga enjoys high-end vehicles. Out of her numerous expensive cars, one particularly stands out.
Lady Gaga’s Audi R8 typically sells for between $196,800 to $210,300 and can rev up from a stand-still to 60 miles an hour in 3.5 seconds. According to Motor Trend, this car reaches a top speed of 200 miles per hour and can cover a quarter mile distance in less than 12 seconds. After Lady Gaga bought the car, fans were so excited that “we love gaga’s new car” became a trending topic on Twitter.
6. Miley Cyrus – 2014 Maserati Quattroporte
The 2014 Maserati Quattroporte is a four-door full size luxury sports sedan. From Italian, the name Quattroporte translates to “four doors.” In addition to its size, it has a V8 engine producing 523 bhp. It seems, with all that, Miley’s car caught the eyes of an unexpected duo.
Shortly after purchasing the car for a respectable $100,000, it suddenly went missing! As it turns out, two aspiring L.A. models admitted to having been inspired by the “Bling Ring,” and decided to go on a little celebrity heist themselves. Shortly after the “Wrecking Ball” singer’s car was taken, the police found it parked safe and sound and returned it to its rightful owner. We’re guessing that expensive celebrity cars like these are now kept under a little extra security.
7. Jennifer Lopez – 911 Carrera GTS Porsche
Jennifer Lopez has propelled herself in to stardom in a number of areas including acting, singing, and fashion. One thing that she apparently hadn’t attempted in a while, though, was driving! Apparently, “Jenny From The Block” hadn’t been behind the wheel herself in 25 years before her 50th birthday. That all changed though with a plan from Lopez’s fiancé, Alex Rodriguez.
Seen in a video posted by Rodriguez, he enlists the help of Lopez’s twins, along with his two daughters, and guides a blindfolded Lopez to her birthday gift, the $146,000 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS. Once he takes off the blindfold, Lopez can be heard exclaiming, “It’s beautiful! I’ve never driven a car like that!” After deciding she’s going to take it out for a spin, a visibly nervous Rodriguez can be heard saying, “Can I get a double seat belt?”
8. Paris Hilton – Ferrari California
Most people, when Black Friday shopping, usually don’t end up with a brand new red Ferrari California. But most people aren’t Paris Hilton, who in November 2011 had the car delivered to her Mulholland Estates home for the price of 277,000 dollars.
One of the reasons this celebrity car is so expensive is because it has achieved a number of firsts. The Ferrari California had the first ever stop/start technology, in which a car’s engine turns off at an extended idle. The car is also the first to offer a folding metal roof and a front engine V8. Talk about a great early Christmas present!
9. Beyoncé – Rolls-Royce Cloud II Convertible
Beyoncé’s nickname isn’t Queen B for nothing. This queen of pop music has not only sold out arenas, but has also been listed on Time magazine’s 100 most influential people for two years in a row. While Bey likes to lead the charts, it seems she likes to go vintage for cars.
Beyoncé’s Rolls-Royce 1959 Silver Cloud II was a gift from her now-husband, Jay-Z, for her 25th birthday. The car has wide leather seats with a matching blue leather interior. An unique aspect of the vehicle is that in spite of its age, it can go from 0 to 60 in under 11 seconds. While most celebrities don’t spend as much on vintage cars, it seems that this one was too good to pass up for a celebrity car collection.
10. Kim Kardashian – Ferrari 458 Italia
The world-famous reality show star and businesswoman has often made headlines surrounding her personal life and her business ventures. She has often had the spotlight on her due to her numerous public appearances, businesses, and modeling. When she made her 2011 purchase of her then-newest car, the media was all over it.
The custom Ferrari 458 Italia was initially a wedding gift for herself, all-in-all costing a reported $325,000. Quite the expression of self-appreciation! It seems as though Ferrari was excited for her to have it as well. Usually the company has a strict no customization policy for their happy customers, but it seems that for Kardashian they made an exception. Kim K actually went ahead and got a new set of Agetro M140 wheels from Platinum Motorsport.
11. Jay Z – Maybach Exelero
The Maybach Exelero is a heavy car. Weighing in at 2.6 tons, it nevertheless manages to reach top speeds of 218 miles per hour. In fact, the car is such a success that it actually broke a speed record for luxury limos on street tires. Much like the Maybach Exelero’s performance capabilities, the artist who purchased it is also notable for his accomplishments.
With sales of over 50 million albums and 14 Grammy Awards, Jay-Z is undoubtedly an incredibly accomplished musician. With all this success and wealth, it’s most likely that the rapper hardly batted an eye when he bought the car for a whopping $8 million. While the worldwide number of this luxury car isn’t known, estimates put the number of Maybach Exeleros manufactured at a mere 12. Rare and valuable indeed.
12. Nicki Minaj – Lamborghini Aventador
Nicki Minaj’s car collection is apparently worth approximately $4.5 million. However, there’s one car in particular that stands out due, both due to its price and numerous features. The car itself is hand built with a V12 engine and sells for up to $400,000, but that’s not what makes this particular Lamborghini unique.
Following in the footsteps of major celebrities which include the King of Rock N’ Roll himself, Elvis Presley, Minaj decided to paint her car bright, Barbie pink. Apparently, Minaj dished out $30,000 for the custom paint job. It might not be the most expensive of all celebrity cars out there, but it’s most likely one of the most expensive color customizations.
13. Meghan Markle – Jaguar E-Type Zero
After Meghan Markle left acting to become the Duchess of Sussex, many may have expected her, and her new husband Prince Henry, to gallop off into the sunset on the back of a white stallion. Rather than a horse however, the newlywed couple rode off from their May 2018 nuptials on a completely different animal, the Jaguar E-Type Zero.
The Jaguar E-Type Zero maintains the same classic Jaguar style as the original 1960s models did. At the time the two drove off, it was just a concept car and hadn’t even gone in to full production. When it does, it will reportedly cost $471,000, arguably making this one of the celebrity cars worthy of royalty.
14. Kanye West – Mercedes SLR
When one of the biggest names in rap, hip hop, and fashion goes to a gala, particularly one in Cannes, France, they are always expected to show up in style. For Kanye West, that style was the Mercedes SLR, one of the most expensive of all Mercedes vehicles.
The Mercedes SLR will likely blow the Yeezys off your feet as it reaches top speeds of 217 miles per hour. It can sprint to 60 miles per hour in under 3.5 seconds and its sleek exterior makes it one of the most impressive of the expensive celebrity cars. The cost to drive around in such fast-paced style… $1.06 million!
15. Kylie Jenner – Rolls-Royce Phantom
At age 21, Kylie Jenner has already made history. The media personality, business woman, model, and socialite was named the youngest-ever “self made” billionaire by Forbes in 2019. So who can blame her for wanting to spend a little bit of that hard earned cash on a few of the finer things in life?
In July 2019, the youngest member of the Kardashian-Jenner clan posted to Instagram several photos of her “new baby.” Babies are already known to be expensive, but this one came with a steep price tag of $452,750! That being said, it sounds like it’s worth it, having been Top Gear’s best luxury car of 2017.
16. John Cena – 2017 Ford GT
A WWE wrestling world champion who made a successful transition in to acting, John Cena seems to be finding success. With this former champion making it big in multiple arenas, it makes sense that he needed a supercar that could match his superstardom. Luckily, that’s where the Ford GT comes in.
Recently having been sold at auction for an astounding $1.32 million, the 2017 Ford GT comes equipped with everything you could hope for in a truck all wrapped up in a sleek, sports car exterior. Its EcoBoost V6 647 HP 3.5 L Engine takes the cake for being the most powerful V6 of its time. Inside the vehicle, carbon fiber is used extensively for serious lightweight durability. Essentially, this car is a race car that’s been modified just enough to make it street legal.
17. Celine Dion – Maybach 62
Celine Dion is one of the best-selling artists of all time with over 200 million records sold. Most likely this internationally recognized artist wanted a car to reflect that hard-earned status and success. Even if that exact thought wasn’t going through her head, she likely turned heads with this car.
The Maybach used to be a well known luxury brand. Recently brought back by Mercedes, the Maybach 62 was built to compete with the traditional ultra-luxury brands like Rolls-Royce and Bentley. Its hefty price supposedly reflects its quality going for a cool half-million dollars. Here’s to hoping Dion’s spiffy ride will go on and on.
18. Jerry Seinfeld – Porsche 959
When this luxury car was introduced, only 337 were built. If that seems like a low number, keep in mind that of those limited 337, only 200 models were considered street legal. But if you’re the host of the show, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, then wouldn’t you also want one of the rarest cars in the world to drive other celebrities around in?
During the initial debut, the Porsche 959 was the fastest street-legal vehicle on the road. With a twin-turbo six-cylinder boxer engine it’s capable of reaching top speeds of 195 miles per hour. With such a reputation behind it the sales of the car started at $700,000. When asked about his expensive purchase, Seinfeld said he is a lover of cars, but doesn’t refer to himself as a collector, and simply added, “I just love cars.”
19. Nicolas Cage – 1958 Ferrari 250 GT Pininfarina
Nicolas Cage is an Academy Award-winning actor who has starred in almost 100 films. It stands to reason that a hard working actor such as the Con Air actor would be interested in treating himself with a car fitting his Hollywood status, such as the 1958 Ferrari 250 GT Pininfarina.
The luxury sports car is an incredibly rare vehicle built only between the years of 1958 to 1960, resulting in the production of a mere 350 of these beautiful hand-made vehicles. At the time it was being produced, it was designed to be a race car. It’s unlikely however, that Cage would raced this vehicle as it’s worth some $3 million in pristine condition. Sounds like a lot? It’s not even close to the most expensive celebrity cars out there.
20. Steve Harvey – Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe Convertible
Steve Harvey has made quite a name for himself. Not only has he found success as a comedian, TV star, and author, just to name a few, but as it turns out he is not the kind of guy likely to forget his wife’s birthday. The comedian also has a unique connection with cars. Before finding success, he slept in his 1976 Ford Tempo. Since then though, things have seemed to take a 180-degree turn for him.
On his wife’s 50th birthday, Harvey purchased a brand new Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe for her. This hand-made car makes the distinction of being the most expensive Rolls-Royce to date with a price tag of $443,000. Talk about a worthy birthday gift!
21. Robert Downey Jr. – Acura NSX
According to Forbes, Robert Downey Jr. is one of the highest paid Hollywood actors, having starred in the Marvel superhero franchise and previous blockbusters like Sherlock Holmes. Undoubtedly, the Iron Man actor could hire a personal pilot to fly him to any movie premiere, but instead chose to roll up in style to his 2012 premiere of The Avengers in one of the most extravagant cars ever made.
Arriving to the premiere in a line of Acura cars, Downey Jr. and his wife pulled up in the Acura NSX Roadster. This car is worthy of Tony Stark in multiple ways. It is both bullet-proof and foreign-element proof, has a windscreen that does scans in the UV spectrum, and a steering wheel that has palm-scanning ID capabilities. Apparently this exclusive and expensive celebrity car does 302 miles per gallon on the highway! The price though? $9,198,000.
22. CeeLo Green – Auburn Speedster
The five time Grammy award-winner is known for his soulful, Southern-styled catchy hits including “Crazy” and “Forget You.” With such success in music, this star has seemingly decided to invest some of his money in the purchase of a unique car.
Like many stylish throwbacks, the first Speedster vehicle originated back in the mid 1930s. The custom made, all-steel Speedster owned by Green was built in Los Angeles, CA in 2012. Not only was it made just for him, but keeping in step with the hip hop artist, it has a premium sound system and, just for kicks, the car’s exhaust is capable of producing flames. Imagine the looks Green must get driving around in that!
23. Rowan Atkinson McLaren F1
One of the most memorable images of Rowan Atkinson’s career is him, portraying the buffoonish Mr. Bean, as he flies down the streets of Great Britain in his greenish-yellowish 1977 British Leyland Mini 1000 Mark 4. Turns out, the real man behind Mr. Bean apparently has much more expensive taste in vehicles.
The English actor initially purchases the rare and impressive McLaren F1 for $704,000 back in 1997. In 2015, he sold this impressive piece of machinery for… wait for it… $12.2 million! According to The Telegraph, this ranked as the highest price paid for a car in the United Kingdom. Many expensive celebrity cars tend to just be for show, but it looks like Atkinson got decent use out of it, selling it with over 40,000 miles on it.
24. Sean Combs – Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe
Sean Combs, better known as P. Diddy, likely got a taste for the high-life back in 1993 after he founded his own record label, Bad Boy Entertainment. Additionally, he has gone platinum numerous times with the releases of his six studio albums, one remix album and 72 singles. Since then his wealth has grown tremendously, and so has his love for his cars.
The already expensive Rolls-Royce was made doubly impressive after Combs decided to customize the interior. The interior has an avant-garde design with wood veneering designed to give the driver and passengers the smooth, luxurious feeling of being on a yacht. For this personal customization, the car cost Diddy $443,000.
25. Simon Cowell – Bugatti Veyron
Simon Cowell became a household name by playing the cantankerous host to American Idol, one of the highest rated reality shows in history. Cowell only drove 1,300 miles in his 2008 Bugatti Veyron, and when he sold it in 2014, it was in practically mint condition. This wasn’t the only thing driving car fans wild though.
The Bugatti Veyron was given a custom black paint job over its exterior. Additionally, Cowell’s Veyron engine had over 1,000 horsepower and was capable of reaching speeds up to 253.8 miles per hour. When auctioned, it managed to sell for a whopping $1.6 million. Considering Cowell has garnered a reputation as being a hard man to impress, it’s a safe bet that this car has something that most don’t.
