Walk of Fame These Celebrities Have Actually Killed Someone Published 4 years ago on Jul 4, 2015 By Isabelle Garreaud We all know that celebrities aren’t exactly the most innocent people on here, but did you know that some have actually killed someone? Whether it was intentionally or not, they are still guilty of ending someone’s life and have to live with that for the rest of their lives. Most of the victims on this list are regular people whose name you probably won’t remember, but you will definitely remember the celebrity killers’ names! Funny how that works… Warning: this list may change how you view your favorite stars! 1. Ray Mancini Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini was one of the greatest boxers in history but there is only one event that he will forever be known for. He was the lightweight champion during mid-1980 and on November 13, 1982, he had a match against the 27-year-old South Korean challenger Duk Koo Kim. The match happened at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and was televised live on CBS Sports. List25.com 14 rounds later, the 21-year-old boxer defended his world title and knocked out Kim after a long brutal match. Shortly afterward, Kim fell into a coma due to a subdural hematoma on his brain, and died 4 days later. It was considered a “Tragedy in the Ring,” as Sports Illustrated called it and Mancini became greatly depressed afterward. In order to try to prevent this from happening ever again, the WBC shortened all title bouts to a maximum of 12 rounds. 2. J. R. Smith J.R. Smith is a basketball player for the Cleveland Cavaliers and was in a deadly car accident on June 9, 2007, in New Jersey. He was driving his SUV that evening when he crashed into another car, after failing to stop at a stop sign. Both he and his friend Andre Bell were ejected from the car (they weren’t wearing seatbelts) and when found, were immediately taken to Jersey Shore University Hospital. List25.com J.R. Smith and the third passenger suffered minor injuries but Bell wasn’t so lucky. Two days later, he died from head injuries he sustained during the accident. In 2009, Smith pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter and was sentenced 90 days in prison, but ended up only serving a month. 3. Lane Garrison A year after Lane Garrison finished his role of David “Tweener” Apolskis in the TV series, Prisonbreak, the actor was actually thrown in jail. His character on the show was imprisoned for grand larceny after stealing a baseball card but Garrison’s real-life crime wasn’t so petty. List25.com In December 2006, the actor was driving under the influence when he crashed his vehicle and killed his 17-year-old passenger, Vahagn Setian. He was arrested and charged by the L.A. County District Attorney office for vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence and providing alcohol to a minor. He pled guilty On October 31, 2007, and was sentenced to 40 months in prison. 4. Tony Stewart There is a lot of speculation as to what happened the day the race-car driver Kevin Ward Jr. was killed but Tony Stewart is at the center of it. He is a three-time NASCAR champion and one of the most decorated drivers in the history of American auto sports, but people didn’t really see him that way after August 9, 2014. List25.com On that day, Stewart was in a sprint car race at Canandaigua Motorsports Park, New York, same as Kevin Ward Jr. was. During the race, Stewart struck and killed the 20-year-old. After the incident, Tony’s reps stated that he did not see Kevin when he was driving but another driver, Paul Kinney, refuted that saying, “I saw Kevin clear as day. Nobody else ran into him, either.” Was it an accident or a murder? 5. Craig MacTavish Craig MacTavish is a former Canadian professional ice hockey player, having played 18 seasons in the NHL and is now the current general manager of the Edmonton Oiler. besides having won 4 Stanley Cups, he is known for being the last player in history to play without wearing a helmet. Obviously, his opinion on safety isn’t very good and he proves that when he drove irresponsibly. List25.com MacTavish was not seen in the 1984–85 season due to the fact that he was sitting in prison for vehicular homicide and driving under the influence of alcohol. On January 25, 1984, in Peabody, Massachusetts, the hockey player hit 25-year-old Kim Radley with his car after driving drunk. Radley ended up dying 4 days due to her injuries. He pleaded guilty and was imprisoned for a year. The next famous face used to be a well loved child star before ending someone’s life. 6. Brandy She was a beloved American singer and actress but her life changed forever in 2006. Brandy was involved in a car crash that took a woman’s life but, unlike the others, she was not driving under the influence. When she was driving home the day before New year’s Eve on Los Angeles’ San Diego (405) Freeway, her Range Rover struck Awatef Aboudihaj’s Toyota. List25.com The 38-year-old woman died from her injuries the next day at L.A. Holy Cross Hospital and Brandy immediately claimed responsibility, although it was later confirmed that it was Aboudihaj’s fault. She was never arrested for the accident but the victim’s family filed a lot of lawsuits against her. Brandy agreed to compensate them, as she truly felt terrible. 7. Keith Moon Most people know him as the famed drummer from the Who and even know that he was a bit eccentric, but there is one fact about him that isn’t talked about. Neil Boland was Keith Moon’s bodyguard, driver, and friend who was accidentally killed by the drummer one night. The fatal incident happened on January 4th, 1970 outside of the Red Lion pub in Hatfield, Hertfordshire where he had been drinking. List25.com When people from the club started to attack Moon’s Bently, he drunkenly sped away to try to escape them. While doing that, he accidently hit Boland and no one in the car realized it at first. He died at the scene and the drummer was charged with a number of offenses, but ended up getting an absolute discharge. The tragedy haunted Moon for the rest of his life. 8. Rebecca Gayheart This fatal car accident is even sadder because the victim was only 9-years-old. Rebecca Gayheart is a model and actress known for her several appearances in popular shows like Beverly Hills, 90210, Urban Legend, and Scream 2. If you are a fan of her you might lose some respect for her after you hear about what she did, accident or not! List25.com She was driving through LA on June 13, 2001, when she hit nine-year-old Jorge Cruz, Jr. The boy ended up dying the next day due to his injuries and the actress was charged. She pleaded no contest to vehicular manslaughter and given three years of probation. Her license was also revoked for a year and she had to pay a $2,800 fine. I bet the family of the boy thought she got off easy! 9. Huddie Ledbetter Also known as Leadbelly, Huddie Ledbetter went down in history for being one of the first African Americans country blue artists to become popular with a white audience. He also had a bad temper and was a heavy drinker, which is a bad formula. In January 1918, the singer was sent to prison for killing his relative, Will Stafford. List25.com The reason for the killing is said to be over a woman, but I guess neither of them got her in the end. Leadbelly was given a 30-year sentence at the Imperial Farm in Sugar Land, Texas but only ended up doing 7 years. He got pardoned not only for good behavior but also for writing a song for Governor Pat Morris Neff about his request for freedom. The next famous killer is one of the most important figures in pop music history. Can you guess who he is? 10. Phil Spector Now this guy’s story is a bit disturbing. Phil Spector is a record producer and one of the most influential figures in pop music history, but he has been sitting in prison since 2003. The actress and model Lana Clarkson was found dead in his mansion on February 3, 2003, in a horrible way. She was slumped over in a chair and a gunshot mouth wound with her broken teeth all over the carpet. List25.com This isn’t the first time he pulled a gun on a woman he was romantically involved with, as the prosecution stated that he has done so with 4 other women without any incident. In an interview with Esquire, he said that it was an “accidental suicide” and that she “kissed the gun.” Spector was sentenced 19 years to life and next time he is eligible for parole, he will be 88-years-old. 11. William S. Burroughs It was the killing of his wife that started his successful literary career and forever changed the way he wrote. William S. Burroughs was a drug addict and heavy drinker but the problem was, so was his wife Joan Vollmer. Their marriage wasn’t a good one and one of the conflicts was that Burroughs was gay, and would constantly cheat on her with other men. List25.com One night at a bar in Mexico City, the writer, after one too many drinks decided he wanted to do the “William Tell act” (shooting something off someone’s head) and Vollmer obliged. Since he was drunk, his aim wasn’t good and he ended shooting her fatally. Later, Burroughs claimed that this story was false and that he simply dropped the gun and it went off, shooting his wife in the head by accident. The next famous killer took his onscreen life a little too seriously. 12. Michael Jace The actor, most commonly known for his role on the series The Shield, was recently convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to 40-years to life in prison. Two years ago, his wife April was found dead in their Hyde Park, South Los Angeles home. She had multiple gunshot wounds and Michael was immediately arrested. List25.com On that night in May, the police received first received a domestic violence report from a neighbor and then a call from the actor himself stating “I shot my wife.” Michael confessed to shooting his wife of 11 years and was charged by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. He is now sitting in prison, where he belongs! 13. Matthew Broderick Upon seeing Matthew Broderick’s familiar face, most people think of the 1986 movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off in which he played the main character. There is one family, though, that has a whole other thought when they see the actor’s face. When he was 25-years old, traveling in Northern Ireland with Jennifer Grey, he got in a car accident that took the lives of two people. List25.com Broderick was driving a rented BMW when he crossed into the wrong lane and hit a Volvo driven by Anna Gallagher, 28. Both she and her 63-year-old mother, Margaret Doherty were killed instantly while he only suffered a fractured leg, fractured ribs, a concussion, and a collapsed lung. The actor was convicted of careless driving and had to pay a fine of $175. The victim’s family called it “a travesty of justice.” 14. Charles S. Dutton It was when he was in prison that Charles S. Dutton discovered his love for acting and as soon as he was released, he started the path to becoming an actor. We all have a past but Dutton’s was a little bit more violent. When he was 17-years-old, he was convicted of manslaughter. List25.com He got into a fight with a man that allegedly attacked him and ended up stabbing him to death. Dutton was charged and sentenced to 7 years in prison. When he was released, he only had a couple of months of freedom before he was back in prison after being arrested for possession of a deadly weapon. The next famous killer is guaranteed to surprise you. Hold on tight! 15. Laura Bush Bet you didn’t know this about our former first lady! The fatal accident that she was in happened way before she entered the politics scene. Laura Bush was 17 when she was driving her Chevy sedan and ran a stop sign. Her car ended up colliding with an oncoming vehicle, killing the driver. List25.com Laura and her fellow passenger only received minor injuries but she suffered emotionally as the victim was her close friend, Michael Douglass. She will forever remember the date, November 6, 1963, as the day she accidently killed her best friend. In her 2010 memoir, Spoken from the Heart, she said that she lost faith for many years after the incident. 16. Sid Vicious Sid Vicious was one of the most famous punk rockers in history and remembered for being the bass guitarist for the rock band the Sex Pistols. His life ended rarely dramatically back in February 1979. A couple of months earlier, Vicious woke up in his NYC hotel room to find his twenty-year-old girlfriend, Nancy Spungen dead on the bathroom floor. List25.com She died from a single stab wound to her abdomen and appeared to have bled to death during the night. The rocker was arrested and charged with her murder. He gave a couple of different testimonies as to what happened that night but what was clear, was that the couple was fighting that night. 3 months later, Vicious OD’d on heroin and was found dead by his mother. I guess who couldn’t live with the guilt. The next famous killer is one of the most popular musicians in the world today. Can you guess who he is? 17. Snoop Dogg He is basically the spokesperson for marijuana and overall, seems to be a pretty laid back person, but he also has a past. Back when Snoop Dogg was known as Cordozar Calvin Broadus, Jr., the teenager spent a lot of time in and out of prison. Those charges were mainly drug related but in 1993, he got arrested for a higher crime! List25.com In August 1993, when he was recording his debut album, Doggystyle, Snoop’s bodyguard, McKinley Lee, shot and killed gang member Phillip Woldermariam. The rapper was charged with murder since he was driving the car during the shooting. Their lawyer, Johnnie Cochran managed to get them both acquitted on grounds of self-defense. 18. Vince Neil When are people going to learn not to drive while intoxicated? The musician, Vince Neil’s blood alcohol level was .17 (California’s legal limit is 0.1) when he took the wheel and drove to a liquor store one night in 1984. The Finnish hard rock band, Hanoi Rocks were in LA and partied with Neil at his house. List25.com Their drummer Nicholas Dingley and Neil decided to drive to a nearby liquor store to restock after they ran out. They never made it to the store as Neil lost control of his sports car and crashed into another. The two people in the other car received major injuries but Dingley died instantly upon the impact. Neil was charged with vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol but was only sentenced 30 days in prison (he got out in 15). 19. C-Murder This 1990’s rapper lived up to his name and is probably the reason why no one really remembers him anymore. March of this year, he released a new rap song titled Dear Supreme Court, as he still proclaims that he is innocent. Many people don’t believe that as the victim was a 16-year-old boy who was a huge fan of C-Murder. List25.com Back in 2002, Steve Thomas was shot and killed at the Platinum Club in Louisana. The gun-owning rapper, who was known for having a temper, was the number 1 suspect in the murder case. C-Murder was convicted of second-degree murder and given a mandatory sentence of life imprisonment. The next famous killer is a professional wrestling champion, Can you guess who he is? 20. Chris Benoit His case is known as one of the greatest family tragedies involving a professional athlete and you’ll see why. Chris Benoit was a Canadian professional wrestler and a two-time world champion who would have gotten his third title if he didn’t commit suicide that night. Back on June 25th, 2007, Police went to Benoit’s house after people were concerned of his whereabouts considering he missed a whole of appointments and found 3 dead bodies. List25.com Police concluded that the wrestler killed his wife Nancy and 7-year-old son Daniel before hanging himself. It was said that the son was drugged and unconscious before Benoit strangled him. Many of his fans don’t believe that the famed wrestler could do this and it was a conspiracy, but after examining his brain, they believed he suffered from brain damage and that was what caused him to do the double-murder. 21. Jim Gordon Jim Gordon is another famous person who suffered from brain problems that led him to commit a murder. He was a musician and songwriter who worked with a lot of popular people like George Harrison, Alice Cooper, John Lennon, and Eric Clapton but no one knew he was on the verge of a psychotic break. List25.com In the 1970’s, Gordon began to hear voices in his head and became very restless. Doctors simply thought it was alcohol abuse and therefore mistreated him, not realizing he was actually developing schizophrenia. In 1983, those voices in his head told him to kill his mother, which he did so using a hammer and a butcher knife. He was finally diagnosed with schizophrenia and sentenced to 16 years in the California Medical Facility, where he is still today. 22. Don King Don King is a boxing promoter who should be sitting in prison instead of being an infamous figure in the public. Even the famed boxer Mike Tyson said he was a bad and ruthless man. Back in the 1950’s, he shot an unarmed man by the name of Hilary Brown after he tried to rob one of his illegal gambling houses. The court ruled it a justifiable homicide and King never spent a day in jail. List25.com 13 years later, he stomped to death his employee, Sam Garrett because he owed him $600, so I guess Garrett didn’t pay him back fast enough. This time, the boxing promoter was convicted of second-degree murder and given a 15-year sentence but he only did 4-years. I guess he has a really good lawyer. 23. Aaron Hernandez Aaron Hernandez, a former football player for the New England Patriots, certainly is trigger happy and should not ever be in possession of a gun. Well, now he is sitting in prison with a life sentence, just where he belongs. Hernandez is in connection with 3 murders with the first happening on July 16, 2012, where he opened fired into a vehicle, killing two passengers. List25.com The next year, police found Odin Lloyd’s body with multiple gunshot wounds just a mile from the football player’s home in Massachusetts. Hernandez was charged with first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison, which he is still serving today. The next famous killer is responsible for one of the most well known murder trials in history. 24. Oscar Pistorius Oscar Pistorius is a South African sprint runner and a paralympic champion (his legs were amputated when he was 11 months old) but he is also a convicted murderer. Except he managed to get away with the murder charge and was only given the lesser charge of manslaughter. On Valentines Day back in 2013, he shot and killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkampon in his home in Pretoria. List25.com His reason for shooting her was that he thought she was an intruder and I guess the jury believed him as he was only indicted for culpable homicide. He was given a 6-year prison sentence and is still sitting in the Kgosi Mampuru II jail today. 25. Rae Carruth Now this case is just plain horrible and I’m glad Rae Carruth is rotting in prison at the moment. He was a football player for the Carolina Panthers and wasn’t happy when his girlfriend Cherica Adams got pregnant with his child. Since she refused to have an abortion, Carruth decided to take things into his own hands and paid his friend Van Brett Watkins Sr to kill her. List25.com Watkins drove alongside Adams car on November 16, 1999, and fired at the 8-month pregnant woman. Carruth was in his car at the scene and fled as soon as the deed was done. Adams was immediately taken to the hospital but lapsed into a coma shortly after. Doctors were able to able to save her son but because he was deprived of oxygen for 70 minutes, he got permanent brain damage. His mother died a month later and Carruth was found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder. SHARE this article if you were so shocked by the names on this list!
