What Is The Cast Of ‘The NeverEnding Story’ Doing Today?

Published

on

Whether you loved it for the costumes or its catchy theme song, The NeverEnding Story had it all. Based on the book of the same name, the film was a fantasy paradise for kids in the ’80s. We look at where some cast members have been since its original release.

Do What You Dream

Tami Stronach’s first ever acting role was The Childlike Empress. Her parents prevented her from acting afterward to save her from the usual child actor pitfalls. Fortunately, Stronach took up dancing and opened her own dancing studio. In 2008, she returned to acting with Fredy a Zlatovláska. Recently, she starred in Ultra Low, which comes out in America in 2019.

I Am Atreyu

Noah Hathaway’s work on The Neverending Story turned him into a heartthrob in Europe. Hathaway got tired of the grueling schedule and dropped out of acting. “I worked the first 20-something years of my life as an actor. I just wanted to drop off the radar and be a regular human being,” he told Tacoma News Tribune. Hathaway has since turned his attention to writing screenplays.

Good Things Come In Small Packages

At four feet, four inches, Deep Roy is a highly sought after star for his size. Prior to playing Teeny Weeny, he was Droopy McCool in Return of the Jedi. His most prolific role was playing the Oompa-Loompas in the 2005 remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. In recent years, he appeared as Keenser in the rebooted Star Trek movie franchise.

Father Knows Best

Gerald McRaney, who played Bastion’s father, has been a staple on television for decades. Starring roles in Simon & Simon and Major Dad earned him praise. Recently, he earned his first Emmy for his work as Dr. Nathan Katowski on NBC’s This Is Us. He’s set to reprise his role of George Hearst in the forthcoming Deadwood film.

How Many Wishes?

Barret Oliver became an instant child star with his role of Bastian. Following roles in D.A.R.Y.L. and Cocoon, Oliver retired from acting in 1989. He has since moved on into the world of photography. Many of his works have been featured in various museums across the country. In 2007, he released the book A History of the Woodburytype.
